- Business Minor with knowledge of marketing, economics, patent and IP law, organizational behavior and other topics.

Selected Academic Projects

• “World’s Fastest Human Powered Boat” Capstone project

- Human powered hydrofoil boat was conceptualized and designed.

- Performed analysis of power and drag.

- Manufactured skin on frame flotation element.

• Design, manufacture and test of four-bar linkage

- Using SolidWorks, developed appropriate linkage geometry for assigned translation and rotation positions.

- Produced engineering drawings and CAD models of individual parts and completed assemblies.

- Produced weekly technical reports containing new and updated materials. Explained design methodologies and theory. Tracked project progress with Gantt chart.

- Produced DXF files from CAD drawings and produced parts using CNC machine.

- Assembled and tested completed model for accuracy.

• Dynamic system response analysis of mass-spring-damper system

- Using assigned values of mass, spring stiffness and damping, developed m-c-k model using Simulink.

- Plotted system response to initial conditions of force and displacement

- Solved second order ordinary differential equation describing system and initial conditions using Matlab.

- Results were verified by comparing plotted Simulink and numerical solutions side by side.

• Finite element analysis of various load and displacement resultant beam stresses

- Models of various beam configurations were produced using Abaqus FEA software.

- Applied loads and initial conditions to beam models, and graphed and analyzed resultant stresses and deformations.

- Compared maximum stresses to hand calculated numerical solutions.

- Reported on and presented findings

• Design, manufacture and test of three stage load cell force measurement device

- Submitted project proposals including calculations and bill of materials for load cell design.

- Selected and attached strain gages to appropriate steel beams for force/deflection measuring system.

- Used a load/displacement device to deflect center of simply supported beams.

- Calculated elastic modulus and strain gage sensitivity using gathered data.

- Arranged beams in a three level configuration such that the first, first and second, or all three beams could be deflected at once.

- Consecutive loads of 1, 10, and 100 lbf were measured accurately by switching strain gage voltage input.
