Lead zirconate titanate (PZT)-Epoxy based 2-phase dome-shape composite thin film actuators

May. 2013-present

● Design experimental set-up of testing the actuation performance.

● Design the experiment to study the influence of epoxy’s concentrations on mechanical strength of the 2-phase composite.

● Investigate piezoelectric and dielectric performance of epoxy-based composite dome structure acting as actuator with different concentration of PZT.

● Optimizing actuation performance by varying processing parameters such as viscosity, curing condition, spin coating profiles, polarizing conditions and dispersing methods.

● Study the influence of employing multiwalled carbon nanotubes as conductive third phase on actuation performance.

Study the influence of piezoelectric polymer substrate (Polyvinylidene fluoride) on the cell growth

May. 2014-Presented

● Cooperate with researchers from biomedical department to study if the piezoelectric polymer substrate-- polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) will boost the growth of cells.

● Work in teams to design the set-up and steps of the experiment, mentoring new researchers.

● Characterization of PVDF polymer thin films on piezoelectric and dielectric properties. Barium titanate (nano)-Epoxy-Al(micro) 3-phase composite capacitive thick films

Aug. 2011- July. 2012

● Investigate percolation threshold of micron size aluminum dispersed in different volume fractions of nano-sized Barium titanate-Epoxy composites.

● Fabricating and analyzing flexible sensors based on these types of capacitive composites. SKILLS
