WORK HISTORY:

NY Eye Institute 2013-Present: currently working at a private ophthalmology practice four days per week conducting thorough, dilated, comprehensive examinations and treating eye conditions including glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, herpes infections, foreign body removal and iritis (including ordering blood tests, etc). In addition, I fit soft and RGP contact lenses, co-manage surgeries, including one day post-op cataract evaluations, and do vision therapy for non-surgical strabismus, amblyopia and accommodative disorders. I examine infants to the elderly. I am currently using electronic medical records and electronic prescribing. In addition, I utilize OCT, B-Scan, Pachymetry and Fundus Photography.

Hometown Eyecare 2006-2012: opened this successful practice cold in September 2006 in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Doubled the gross sales in one year. Grossed $365,000 on 3.5 days after three years. Proficient in CPT and ICD-9 coding to maximize reimbursements as well as PQRI codes to receive annual bonus check. Built a loyal patient base which grew mainly from patient referrals. Co-managed cataract, lasik and other surgeries with two large MD practices. Learned how to prevent spectacle re-makes in order to protect my bottom line. Did fittings of RGP and soft contact lenses including bifocal and toric prescriptions. Hired, fired and managed employees and held office meetings. Proficient in OfficeMate software. I actively treated to the fullest extent of my license including glaucoma, herpes infections, foreign body removal, iritis, including ordering blood tests, etc. Built a growing in-office vision therapy program for children and adults. Did many community outreach programs including continuing education to the school nurses throughout the county as well as teaching ocular anatomy to the students at the local highschool. I closed the practice due to marriage and relocation.

Independent practice next to JCPenney Optical 2001-2005: built this successful practice in Virginia Beach, Virginia over a four year period. Worked 40-50 hours per week. I had an extensive contact lens practice, prescribed a wide variety of medications, co-managed surgeries with a local ophthalmologist and did vision therapy for adults and children. I received many vision therapy referrals from local optometrists who respected my ethical work in this specialized area. I managed one employee and filed all insurance claims personally with assistance from my employee. I closed this practice due to a desire to return closer to my home state of NJ.

Tidewater Eye Centers 2000-2001: three location, seven ophthalmologist practice in Hampton Roads, Virginia. My work for this practice included opening and managing the third satellite office. I performed glasses and contact lens exams, treated eye diseases, co-managed surgeries including cataracts, lasik and glaucoma, performed vision therapy, did community outreach such as vision screenings and promoted this practice and co-management to other local optometrists. In fact, my fellow optometrists got to know me so well, personally and professionally, that they nominated me to the Virginia State Board of Optometry due to their respect for me.

EDUCATIONAL HISTORY:

University of Houston College of Optometry 1998-1999: this is where I did my pediatrics and binocular vision residency. I performed exams mainly on children under the age of 7. In addition, I was the chief in-office orthoptist, performed exams once a week in a clinic for special needs children, lectured at grand rounds, lectured to allied health professionals at the Texas Focus Conference for special needs children and performed exams once a week at a rehab hospital for traumatic brain injury patients. I also worked with two ophthalmologists; one whose specialty was strabismus and one whose specialty was retinopathy of prematurity.
