TECHNICAL SKILLS

In my current position as Consultant & Associate Professor of Radiology in KMC Manipal, I work as a part of a unit comprising of 6-7 radiologists alternating weekly between conventional radiology posting (X-ray reporting, barium procedures, ultrasound, US-guided procedures) and cross-sectional radiology posting (CT & MRI, including CT-guided procedures).

Departmental case load per day:

120 X-rays, 5-10 mammograms & sonomammograms, 4-5 barium/IVU procedures, 130-160 ultrasounds, 20-25 dopplers, 5-8 ultrasound guided diagnostic & therapeutic procedures, 2-3 CT guided procedures, 80-100 CT scans (30-40 body CTs) and 35-40 MRI scans.

MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING

Working experience on 1.5 Tesla MRI systems – Seimens Magnetom Vision, GE Signa HDxT and Philips Acheiva units.

Competent in MR studies of CNS, extracranial head and neck, spine, abdomen, pelvis and musculoskeletal MRI.

Well-versed with advanced MRI applications viz., Cholangio-pancreatography, Urography, Angiography, Spectroscopy, etc.

COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

Working experience on conventional (3rd generation), 16 slice helical and 64 slice helical CT scanners from Seimens and Philips.

Competent in reporting head, body, musculoskeletal CT and advanced CT imaging applications CT guided FNACs, biopsies and drainage procedures. ULTRASOUND

Working experience on USG machines from Seimens, GE, Philips and Toshiba with advanced doppler, 3D & 4D capabilities.

Proficient in musculoskeletal ultrasound (hand, wrist, shoulder, hip, knee, nerve entrapments) and ultrasound guided FNACs, biopsies and drainages.

Extensive experience in ultrasonography of abdomen, pelvis, chest, cranium, breast, antenatal, small parts, TRUS and TVS.

OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS TO DEPARTMENT WORK

Actively participated in evaluation of different radiology information systems prior to installation of Seimens RIS in KMC Manipal and in customization of Seimens RIS in KMC Manipal.

Main evaluator of different radiology information systems prior to installation of Meddiff PACS-RIS in KMC Manipal in 2013 and main resource person in customization of Meddiff PACS-RIS system presently installed in KMC Manipal from radiology/hospital side.

Actively participated in customization and validation of Philips Portal system.
