Career Highlights
University of Texas-Austin, Austin, TX: 2007-2015
Senior Interior Designer, Project Management and Construction Services (PMCS)
Established review process of CSI Divisions 9, 10 and 12 for PMCS and OFPC (Office of Facility Planning and Construction-UT Systems) projects for Austin Campus. Lead bi-weekly meetings for design team campus design standards and issues.
Spearheaded creation of UT Interior Standards format. My first project at UT was to organize all notes kept over the years about materials and products installed inside any building on UT Austin campus. Followed CSI format used by AIA. This information provided an efficient way to review new buildings and to justify standards.
Initiating Change. Recommended change to individual project review cycle to occur closer to monthly group review meeting. This resulted in more accurate and up to date information sharing with other designers and managers, and monthly reporting to directors on fluid project execution.
Supervised Design Competition for the AUID Conference held by UT Austin in 2013. Received over 50 entries printed on 20x30 posters. Designed special display easel, and supervised building. Custom design easels had become very popular with other organizations and were used for other events on campus.
Conflict resolution. “Creative type people” occasionally have difficulty communicating with each other. Over a period of several weeks the conflict worsened. Resolved the issue through communications with leaders and defused the situation.

Supervised design and installation of a very large glass logo. During the interior design process the client decides the main reception area needed an unforgettable wow factor. Etched company logo image in glass panels to allow a view of Boston. Created a RFP, interviewed local glass designers and negotiated cost resulting in a remarkable company image..
Marketing and coordinating a public awareness program called AIA Orchids and Onions in San Diego. The big challenge was reaching out to the public to vote before emails and websites were invented! Using local radio stations to explain the program, the number of entries and voters turnout doubled producing a very popular in San Diego still today.
Osram Sylvania Inc. – Danvers, MA: LIGHTPOINT – The Institute for Lighting Technology Educational Vignettes
Lead Designer and Assistant. Awarded a project at Osram Sylvania to design a new in-house education center for lighting. Took the lead for the space planning, furniture selection and construction details for 10 vignettes each approximately 8’x8’. Assisted in-house lighting expert with final decisions resulting in impactful space plan.
Founded and operated my own company in order to have more freedom raising three sons.
Merrimac Valley Children’s Museum – Haverhill MA: Proposed Master Plan for Renovation of a 150 year old armory. Design and fundraising for a children’s museum to be housed in a 150 year old armory. This was a very creative project because there were no restrictions for the layout (other than ADA requirements) or budget. This was also an in-kind service which I provided the presentation boards with layouts, color scheme, and a schedule for fundraising and building phases. Found a local architect’s office to provide (also in-kind) a beautiful colored rendering for the fundraising.
