Managed the Electrical Maintenance Department for the Atlanta Division of the world’s largest privately held metals recycling company. Managed the electrical requirements of numerous multi-million dollar plant upgrades.

Supervised up to 6 workers on construction and upgrade projects. Responsible for all of the electrical maintenance functions in all manufacturing plants in the Atlanta Division including East Point Mega Shredder, Doraville Mega Shredder, Hapeville Non Ferrous Processing Center and Macon Collection and Non Ferrous Processing Center. Performed the electrical installations of the new automated 6000 horsepower, 4160 Volt automotive and appliance Mega-Shredder and the new fully automated non-ferrous materials separation plant that includes more than 50 sorting machines and conveyors. Specified and Built a new 10MVA 115kV Primary 4.16 kV Secondary Substation.

Integrated new machinery into the existing PLC and HMI/SCADA systems and Motor Control Centers. Performed troubleshooting and repairs on all types of Medium Voltage (4160 Volt) and Low Voltage (480 Volt and Lower) machinery ranging from the 6000 Horsepower Shredder Motors down to fractional horsepower motors, PLC systems and process controls. Specified and purchased all new electrical distribution and control systems including PLC’s, Motor Control Centers, Variable Frequency Drives and Electrical Motors.

Austral VonRoll Isola 12/1997 – 6/2004

Plant Engineer

Hired as the Maintenance Superintendent to manage the Maintenance Department of the Eastern Magnet Wire Manufacturing Facility. Shortly after hiring was promoted to Plant Engineer. The facility included wire drawing, rolling mills and batch annealing machinery as well as enameling lines and other insulation application machinery.

Duties included instituting a preventative maintenance program to ensure the company's compliance with ISO 9002 certification, managing the day to day maintenance operations, insuring the GDNR and EPA compliance for stack emissions, rendering CAD Drawings, overseeing the work of sub-contractors and the purchasing of all maintenance related supplies. Responsible for coordinating the rebuild and upgrades of several of the manufacturing machines and the development, purchasing and installation of new machinery.

Engineered replacement of several no longer supported PLC’s and converted the PLC ladders to the new PLC’s. Sat on various committees including the Safety and Cost Reduction Committees. Supervised a Maintenance crew of varying size up to six skilled tradespersons.

Reduced off hours call outs from averaging twice a week to less than one per month.

Assistant Plant Engineer

Employed in the capacity of Assistant Plant Engineer to oversee the operation of a three plant 500,000 square foot manufacturing facility that produced and remanufactured Plastic Injection Molding Machines, Die Casting Machines and Extruders.

The plants contained 275 major machine tools and included a 200,000 square foot assembly floor. Responsibilities included implementing a preventative maintenance system to comply with ISO 9001 certification, Hazmat Compliance, overseeing a three-shift maintenance crew of twenty-one skilled bargaining unit tradespersons, scheduling and coordinating new machinery installations, interfacing with vendors and sub-contractors, System Administrator of the Lucent Technologies Telephone/Voice mail/Internet/Intranet system, Safety Coordinator, managing an inventory of machinery spare parts and ordering of all maintenance related supplies.

Lucas Precision 1991 – 1996

Field Service Technician/Supervisor, Materials Manager

Hired as a Field Service Supervisor. Duties included worldwide travel to oversee the repair, retrofit, troubleshooting, installation, laser calibration and alignment of Lucas Machine Tool Division manufactured Horizontal Boring Mills. Specializing in the newer Computer Numerical Control Machines that contain many sub-systems including Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Refrigeration, High Voltage and High Current AC and DC Systems, Computers, Programmable Logic Controllers, Automated Guided Vehicles, Robotics and Mechanical Drive Components.

On the occasions when not traveling, worked in the Lucas Engineering Department designing mechanical, electrical and electronic controls and sub-systems for machine tool retrofits. Co-engineered PLC replacements for complex relay panels and high density switches. Promoted to Materials Manager in 1995. That position was responsible for the Purchasing, Outsourcing and Manufacturing Departments. The manufacturing duties included overseeing and scheduling of all Lucas Precision manufactured products including the extremely high precision spindle assemblies and all in-plant re-manufacturing, rebuilds and CNC Retrofits.
