Managed line maintenance and operations activities, production planning, operator safety, and product quality in a Union environment with over 70 direct and indirect employees.
Ensured operational reliability to 97% on a 1930’s vintage Hot Strip Mill.
Directed weekly safety updates to all Hot Mill employees, performed daily safety walks and safety conversations

Reheat Furnace Manager, Hot Strip Mill (2012 – 2013)
Designed and implemented furnace heating improvement project. Project realized over $1M savings in Natural Gas spend during year one of operation.
Implemented a lifesaving safety system on furnace double block and bleed system. Project was recognized by U.S. Steel management as a corporate wide best practice.

Maintenance Supervisor, Pickle Lines (2011 – 2012)
Implemented soy-based grease in manufacturing equipment to reduce health, environmental, and flammability hazards created where traditional greases were used.
Designed and installed scale-breaker roll-change crane. Device removed operational hazards (pinch points, strains/sprains, etc and improved operating time by decreasing line-down time (15min / change)
Supervised maintenance, repair, and upgrade activities during $8M renovation of the Pickling Lines.

Supervised 21 Union employees across all operational shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).

Designed, engineered, and installed a Back-Up Roll containment trough to allow for oil spill containment and easy reclamation of used oils.

Co-authored “The Relative and Absolute Bone Density at the TMT Joint in Hallux Valgus”.
Developed incubator used with live bovine cartilage to evaluate in situ cartilage deterioration under variable loading.
Tested for range of motion deficiencies in patients presenting with radial head fractures. Used servo-motor driven simulators to examine range of motion. Study helped define a need for surgery in 90% of elbow fracture cases.
Evaluated bone density changes in patients presenting with severe hallux valgus angles. Aided Orthopedic Surgeons in determining requirements for Bunion Repair Surgery.
