Provide close coordination of recruiting and retention activities between Department Head, Undergraduate Advisor, Undergraduate Recruiter and faculty.

Coordinate presentation of departmental promotional materials in a variety of venues to include public events such as AgFest, scheduled Career Days at high schools throughout the state and various university events.

Lead and direct participants in AgFest and Kid’s day activities. Attend meetings and coordinate WS&E representation at these events.

Determine the need for temporary classified or student worker positions; make recommendations to Departmental Office Manager; write position description, conduct search, hire, fire, and recommend pay increases. Provide Library Support Services by:

Develop and oversee library operating budget, monitor expenditures adjusting as necessary to operate within budget.

Act as liaison with Valley Library personnel; schedule and coordinate annual transfer of archived reference materials to Wood Science & Engineering section of Valley Library.

Develop and maintain database of books and journals; modify database as necessary to facilitate faculty and student access to information.

Receive and catalog periodicals; oversee copying and routing of periodicals to faculty.

Supervise student worker(s) (1 to 3 workers).

Provide general library assistance to departmental faculty and students by assisting with reference searches, interlibrary loans.

Direct program support to faculty

Typing, edit, and print a variety of materials for faculty including: Extension course materials, scholarly manuscripts, technical reports, and proposals which may contain tables and equations; correspondence, memos and similar work; computer-generated slides and overheads; posters and similar technical or program presentations; distributes information to appropriate clientele on request.

Compile, input, format, and distribute faculty annual reports including faculty curriculum vitae and departmental publications lists.

Produce faculty dossiers for interim, post-tenure, tenure or promotion reviews using established format and guidelines.

Compile, format, and distribute special reports, brochures and mailings. Provide General Departmental & Instructional Program support:

Receive and route calls to department; greet and direct visitors; answer non-technical questions; make photocopies; prepare outgoing mail; receive and distribute incoming mail; receive, review, and prioritize mail for individual faculty as requested; serve as departmental telephone coordinator.

Cross-train with other classified positions in order to function as backup.

Complete administrative forms such as: travel and expense claims, requisitions, purchase orders, or other documents.

Schedule meetings and conferences, notify attendees.

Maintain Richardson Hall departmental bulletin boards, announcements, and job opportunities.

Type, proof, and edit course materials from written and oral instruction; proof and submit catalog and timetable information utilizing on-line scheduling program; produce curricula change requests; order textbooks; departmental liaison to College instructional support services office.

Provide backup to graduate services personnel regarding graduate admissions; explains and clarifies rules, policies and procedures or refers inquiries to others as appropriate.
