Dear Hiring Manager,
I am responding to a job posting for the entry-level marketing and management trainee position listed on Simplyhired.ca and Indeed.com. I have recently graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in marketing and minoring in management. In addition to my degree, I have a couple of years of experience in customer service. Between my degree and my customer service experience, I have knowledge in most areas that require contact with the public. Below I listed a few of the specifics about my schooling and experience that I believe will be applicable for this position.
Customer Service - While working as a product marketer I have encountered customer dissatisfaction from aggressive customers. In this case I successfully minimized the amount of disturbance so that other customers may proceed with their purchases while resolving the customer’s complaint. Team Player – Through my work experience with Pasta Delight Ltd. and multiple student organization I have learned to work cohesively and effectively with a team. Through teamwork TeamUp Science was able to successfully secure a non-for-profit status as well as initiate a new program (Medical Science Workshop). The new program that was launched was able to increase student interest in the medical field as well as increase our profits that year by 50%. Self-Motivation – As part of my responsibilities as Vice-President Finance of TeamUp Science (a student group) I was tasked to work with the President to meet the requirements for non-for-profit status. At the beginning of this task I had to go through the organization’s previous financial records, which I discovered to be non-existing. Within a month I was able to successfully set up a new system that allowed TeamUp Science (a student group at the University of Alberta) to obtain and maintain their non-for-profit status.
Marketing – While I have no formal training in this area, I took several upper-level Marketing courses that included marketing communication, and product and pricing management. I am currently working on applying this knowledge at expanding Pasta Delight Ltd. into new markets. Minimum Qualifications – In addition to my work experience, I have the passion and drive to strive for excellence. I realize that I am a recent graduate but I am open to learning any new skill or role that is necessary for an opportunity to work with your organization. As mentioned earlier, I also have a Bachelor’s degree in business with a specialization in marketing and a minor in management. Please take time to review my resume that I have attached. I look forward to hearing back from you. I can be reached at 780-***-**** or ***************@*****.***. Thank your for your consideration,
Christina Yap
