Delivery of Vizient’s Business Process Management (BPM) for B2B implementation. Re-architecture and implementation of 2 core legacy member platforms. These platforms manage 80,000 contracting transactions and drive $45 Billion in member purchases annually for over 15,000 member, supplier, and internal users. They additionally drive savings programs responsible for $136 Million in supplier rebate value to members annually.

Reduction of technical debt via migration of custom legacy applications to modern business rules engines such as SAP_Vistex.

Recruited by Essilor to lead the IT departmental re-engineering effort to strengthen core IT competence, implement best practices, mature stakeholder collaboration models and position IT to be a strategic enabler to the business with regards to emerging technologies.

Re-engineering effort included heavy collaboration with the Enterprise IT Governance Committee (comprised of the President, CFO, CMO, COO and CIO) for the strategic planning, prioritization and funding. Formal team meetings were on a monthly basis in addition to meeting with individual members as required. Steering Committee level memberships and collaboration at the business unit/department head level was critical to the success of key initiatives.

Best Practices Implementations: formulated and led the implementation of a Center of Excellence (COE) delivery model, personally implemented platform and program delivery COE’s, and provided strategic guidance/oversight for the formulation of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Quality Assurance COE’s. Introduced/implemented standard system development life cycle (SDLC) and total cost of ownership (TCO) estimation models into the IT delivery model. Conceptualized/implemented IT services demand planning model. Organizational strengthening resulted in a 16% increase in software development productivity, a 20% reduction in labor expense and a 40+% improvement in on-time/on-schedule project delivery within the first year.

Led the Applications Development Organization consisting of Program/Project Management (PMO), Oracle eBusiness Suite Development, Business Intelligence and Master Data Management, and Custom Application Development Teams in the successful delivery of approximately $10-15 Million of capital application development annually.

Responsible for strategic technical leadership. Emerging technology assessments resulted in delivery of the first IT developed mobile applications targeted for iPad and Android devices, and the initiation of Social Network Analytics review through the use of strategic partnerships delivering Cloud (SaaS) solutions. Responsible for all facets of the on-site Retail Information Systems supporting each of the 5,500 7-Eleven Convenience stores in the U.S. and Canada. Led 5 organization functions / teams inclusive of Software Development and Deployment, Hardware Deployment, Quality Control Testing, Software Support and Enterprise Business Intelligence Analytics/Reporting. Platforms included: .NET based In Store Processor (ISP), NCR Point of Sales (POS) Registers, CE Based Wireless Mobile Ordering Terminal (MOT).

Key leader of the development and implementation of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based outsourcing application management contract and service catalog that provided $12 Million dollars in bottom line savings compared to previous application management cost structure.

Implemented best practices and enabled operations excellence via organizational restructure and implementing full system life-cycle best practices across internal teams and a multitude of vendor partners (both outsource, staff augmentation and off-shore). Best practices include ITIL based functions such as problem management, release management, change management, systems development life-cycle management, managed testing services and stakeholder management.

Managed a 40+ member internal team plus outsource teams of 50-100. Responsible for over $40 Million in Capital Development activity and $15 Million P&L budget annually.

Strategic business/technology alignments with Merchandising and Store Operations business units resulted in initiatives designed to drive down enterprise costs and/or increase sales and profit. Successful leadership of the implementation, continued growth, on-going management and strategic road-mapping of the Enterprise Business Intelligence Platform, which was a $30 million BI & reporting platform supporting the information and analytical needs of 13 business units and functions across the enterprise. The user base consisted of 1800 web-based standard report consumers and 450 direct connect ad-hoc query users – which was a 10x increase in the number of users having access to organizational analytic information.

Key analytic deliveries included the implementation of an Invoices Analytics Data Mart saving the company $100K per year in processing expenses, savings of $250K per year through consolidation and retirement of individually supported data mart platforms, deployment of Price Optimizing analytics targeted to achieve $6.5 million per year Gross Profit improvement, and many others.

Led 75 member organization comprised of 6 inter-disciplinary teams made up of employees, staff augmentation consulting services, matrix resources, outsource solution vendors, and off-shore staffing solutions, and accountable for $9 Million expense budget and $10 Million (avg) development budget annually.
