Haeco Cabin Solutions., Winston Salem, N.C. 12/14 – Present

Haeco cabin solutions and its parent company Haeco America is one of the worlds largest MRO’s and a leading provider of interior products and services in the airline industry.

Production Supervisor

In my current role as production supervisor with Haeco Cabin solutions, I am responsible for two production lines that produce seating for the airline industry and installed on Boeing and Airbus commercial planes. I currently have 30 direct reports which includes 20 assemblers, 4 technicians, 2 mechanical engineers, 2 leads, and 2 methods planners. I handle scheduling of the production lines, as well as all aspects of employee issues including discipline and semi annual reviews. I also utilize my extensive experience in lean manufacturing to coordinate kaizen bursts, as well as kaizen events for continuous improvement. I work closely with all departments to ensure everything required is coordinated and workflow is never disrupted. This includes procurement, engineering, as well as sub assembly areas of our facility. I believe in positive reinforcement as well as constant cross training in all areas of assembly. Quality is a huge part of my role to ensure passengers aboard these aircraft receive the safest possible seating. KPI driven, as well as timelines and scheduling are a strong point with my leadership style.

Production Supervisor/lean facilitator

Responsibilities included the day to day operations of a shift of approximately 35 employees. I completed semi and annual reviews of performance, hiring and discipline of hourly employees. I maintained high quality standards in a very quality driven environment. In my role as lean facilitator, It was my task to complete current and future state maps of work cells and identify areas for continuous improvement. This involved improvement in all areas of waste, to holding kaizen events up to and including layout changes to maximize efficiency.Worked with all departments to build and maintain departmental budget.Exceeded all rigid quality standards needed to satisfy the National Transportation and Safety Board in the proper design and function of our product. Implementation and redesign of work cells to maximize efficiencies in a Lean environment. Responsible for the building of interdepartmental teams designed to come together as a think tank and resolve issues before they work their way into the production process. Precor., Whitsett, N.C. 1/2010 – 4/2012

A manufacturer of the finest fitness equipment on the market. The plant in Whitsett is responsible for the design and production of all strength equipment as well as shipment globally.

Lead Production Supervisor/Safety Manager

As lead production supervisor, my role was implementation of lean manufacturing in all assembly cells in the facility. I sustained this as the plant opened and maintained continuous improvement thru ought my department. I managed a team of roughly thirty hourly employees which included reviews of performance, new hire, and discipline to maintain all human resource policies set forth by the company. As the plant ramped up production, there was an issue with recordable incidents. Precor asked me to fall back on my experience working with environmental health and safety. I brought together a safety committee, designed an incentive program, implemented SOP’s, and put safety as the primary function of all members of management. The second year in operation, the plant maintained a 0.5 total incident rate and became a benchmark within the company as a leader in plant overall safety performance.

Shipping Supervisor 1/2011 – 4/2012

At the time I joined Precor, the plant had just opened. I was tasked with the design of their shipping department which included container, dry van, as well as LTL. Hiring of a staff was a focus as well as training and design of loading equipment to allow us to ship our product assembled and ready for installation. Lean implantation which included kanban as well as a card pull system for component replenishment. Designed an attachment approved by Crown Forklifts that allowed the loading of completed equipment assembled and ready for installation. Safety committee chairperson with a focus on culture change and a drive in improved overall awareness of the importance of safety. Assisted in the budget process and maintained at or below budget at all times. Involved heavily in inventories and maintaining proper cycle counts.

JOSTENS, INC., WinstonSalem, N.C. 2007 – 2009. The world’s largest manufacturer of yearbooks and class rings. Jostens is also the 14th largest commercial printer in the U.S.

Converting/Warehouse Manager and Plant Safety Trainer

Responsible for scheduling the day to day operations of the converting department, featuring a Maxson sheeter which runs grades of paper from 50# offset to 24 pt. board stock and averaging 650,000 lbs of production per week. Train and manage up to fifteen converting employees. Worked with Plant Production Manager in creating the department budget. Exceeded profit budget by 30% each of the last two years. Met and exceeded all quality standards which were designed to exceed paper mill specifications. Won leadership award of excellence for leading the installation, startup and in attaining full production in less than sixty days. Attended Six Sigma green belt course at NC State.

Warehouse Manager Accomplishments:

Used lean supermarket principals to redesign Jostens warehouse to better satisfy high demand from five printing plants with very limited space. Managed the material handlers in the day to day operations and in inventory control. Directly handled all loads scheduled for all of Jostens plants and worked directly with purchasing agents in each plant to maintain inventories. Used previous years usage amounts to correctly schedule product coming into the plant so we always maintained the right level of inventory in each line we carried.

Safety Manager Accomplishments

Recruited by the Plant Manager and HR Manager to take on responsibility for safetytraining and implementation plant wide. Attended train the trainer course given by Barloworld in Pineville, NC in 2008 for Powered Industrial Trucks (fork lifts, scissor lifts, electric power jacks). This training course was designed to exceed OSHA standards where I earned a level I Certification. Designed and trained all employees at Jostens on a site specific training course using OSHA standards in areas such as lock out/tag out, hazardous chemicals, fire safety, etc. Trained 125 operators and met OSHA documentation requirements in Powered industrial Truck training. Plant went 365 days without a Lost Time Accident and no DART incidents in first year .Won leadership award of excellence.

INTERNATIONAL PAPER., Greensboro, N.C. 1995 – 2007

A $25 billion global paper and packaging company. The Greensboro plant is a converting facility, part of the Coated Paperboard Division.

Supervisor 2005 – 2006 Converting Supervisor for “D” shift.

Responsible for the scheduling of work to satisfy production needs. Oversaw inventory control in the warehouse. Designed and trained sheeter operators and I was capable of operating all equipment in the plant. Won Level I Certification by Barloworld for the first time. Trained roughly 80 operators. Helped to design and implement a Gain Sharing Program which enabled employees to earn quarterly bonus. Attended EHS University in Memphis, TN and certified in environmental safety, ergonomics, air quality, permit requirements, PIT safety and safety training techniques. Designed safety training courses which are still being used currently.

Sheeter Operator 1999 – 2005

Worked as an operator of sheeting equipment, consistently exceeding company production and quality standards.

Tractor Trailer Operator 1995 – 1999

Ran a local route that averaged 400 miles/day delivering paper to customers.
