Job Description:

Receives information concerning status of incoming patients from wards, ER and OR. Carry out

doctors order accurately.

Prepares the machine and equipment for incoming patients with bedside cardiac monitor to

monitor the following parameters. (Cardiac rate and rhythm, arterial pressure, central venous

pressure, intra aortic ballon, pulmonary artery pressure, central and peripheral skin temperature,

pulmonary capillary wedge pressure and oxygen saturation).

Adjusts ventilator setting according to patient needs as ordered by the doctor.

Hooks an incoming patient to the prepared monitoring equipments.

Takes full responsibility in the care of the patients assigned and their surroundings.

Makes accurate observations, reports and record pertinent data of the patient under care and

evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions.

Reports equipments and supply to head nurse regarding breakage, losses and mal functioning of

equipments.

Provide direct care to critically ill infants both preterm and full full term especially on ventilators,

incubators, on CPAP and infants connected to oxygen. Accurately documents all elements of

nursing assessment, treatments, medications, discharge instructions and followup care.

Attend deliveries and resuscitation of newborn infants. Apply APGAR score during the first hour of

delivery and includes keeping the baby warm, stimulating the baby to breath, giving breaths to the

baby who isnt breathing well, and performing chest compressions if needed.

Assessed patients developmental stages and conditions. Held responsibility as a charge nurse

and assists doctor during intubation and extubation of neonates.

pediatric, Obstetric and surgical cases and the ICU complex does have a 4bed capacity that caters both

medical adult and pediatric cases. The OR complex consists of 2 OR rooms for double table procedure
