OPERATIONS MANAGER BALTIMORE AIRCOIL COMPANY NOV 2012 – CURRENT

Details of operation:

Over 200+ employees working in multiple departments; Fabrication, Welding, Coil Fab, Pipe Fab, Assembly

Receive flat sheets of galvanized and stainless steel metal. Etch or punch out key assembly points using laser or NC punches, form with brake press, weld seams and critical components, coat as needed.

Assembly consisted of building from the ground floor using impact guns and hardware, installing critical components, installing motors, pumps, aligning gears and drives, labeling and shipping to the customer.

Certain products used coil product. Coil operation consisted of taking rolls of flat metal, running through pipe mill, bending circuits, stacking, welding circuits and coating with galvanized metal.

Key Accomplishments:

Implemented BBS program resulting in improvement of safety metrics and workers compensation costs

Led company to Productivity improvements of around 20% over the past 4 years using labor planning tools that focus on staffing plant to desired productivity levels; ensured scheduling was advantageous for operation, highlighting on the proper mix by avoiding bottlenecks or potential pitfalls that could disrupt the flow

Specific Responsibilities:

Perform Gemba (Lean term that means go to where the work is being performed) walks regularly looking for waste, opportunities to praise, perform behavior based safety observations, one on one relationship building conversations, quality inspections, and audits of processes.

Established a cadence by coordinating and facilitating regular meetings; KPI reviews, daily collaboration of plant activities, leadership training, safety committee, EHS review, safety training, significant order review, productivity forecast, quarterly plant updates, corporate updates, new product review, and more as required.

Purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, receive, store or run produce through fresh cut operation, deliver to Food Service customers throughout the Central Valley all while maintaining high levels of food safety standards

Led company through significant growth period going from $3M to $12M annually

Established pricing to customers for all commodities by using market information as well as creating an excel program that calculates all costs related to business; increased GPM by nearly 5% over 3 years

Specific Responsibilities:

Purchased produce daily from Distributors, growers, brokers; kept a pulse on the market at all times. Would buy and sell produce at the right times to generate additional profit and prevent potential losses.

Worked directly with key distributor and school accounts to ensure customer requirements were met.
