My primary responsibility as the Retail Store Greeter is to greet and assist customers as they enter the store, directing them to appropriate department and/or sales representatives. This position acts as a part of the Loss Control team and is responsible for actively deterring shoplifting and monitoring merchandise as it leaves the store. The Retail Store Greeter also helps with service related functions, inventory control and general store projects as assigned. This position works under moderate supervision and must work closely with Customers and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer Care – Greet and/or thank customers with a smile as they enter/leave the store. Offer and ensure an adequate number of shopping carts, baskets and “scooters” are available for customers. Address customer questions. Direct customers to appropriate store staff and/or department and to restrooms, coffeepot or telephones as needed. Provide sales information by handing out promotional brochures and/or advertising customer offers and specials. Direct concerns and questions to Management, as required, to resolve customer issues.

Loss Control/Security – Use shoplifting indicators and excellent customer care to deter and prevent shoplifting. Ask customers to check packages with customer service. Physically check unbagged items leaving store, check receipts and apply security tags.

Communication – Alert department personnel that a customer is in route to a specific department via two-way radios with headsets.

Product Knowledge – General knowledge of merchandise carried and where it is located. Direct customers to needed merchandise or appropriate department Sales Clerk.

Housekeeping – Report items needing repairs or maintenance to management. Ensure the entryway, baskets, carts and “scooters” are kept clean and presentable. Ensure End Caps and Flat Stocks in the Buying Zones are properly stocked and clean.

Other Duties:

Keep a count of the number of customers entering the store. General store project, Perform other duties as needed.
