Information Services Manager, SunTrust Bank, 2002 - 2007

Managed a team of seventeen distributed hardware, mid-range hardware, active directory Exchange and virtualization engineers responsible for all non-mainframe hardware implementation from selection and design through procurement and build for the seventh largest bank in the Country.

Worked closely with Enterprise Risk Management on the development of security standards that pertain to server design and O/S builds.

Responsible for the management of an $8 million dollar mid-range computing asset center, hiring and firing decisions and for the performance counseling and compensation considerations for all team members.

Led efforts around the planning and move of over 400 mid-range and Intel servers from a data center in Orlando, FL to a new data center in Durham, NC.

Designed and developed standards and strategies around virtualization using VMWare ESX, HP-UX and AIX implementing over 200 VMWare hosts running over 1500 virtual servers using VMWare and over 200 HP-UX and AIX servers running over 300 variations of virtual partitions on HP superdome and IBM P-Series frames.

Developed and deployed standards around the widespread use of HP Blade Server technology and have deployed over 1400 blade servers across two data centers.

Led the team through an upgrade from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003 in less than three months. This project involved the replacement of 29 Exchange 2000 servers with new HP blade server technology running Exchange 2003, the consolidation of all remote sites to a primary, secondary site, the migration of ~40,000 mailboxes and the migration of 13 TB of data to a new SAN solution.

Responsible for selecting and implementing the email archival solution for all Lines of Business that have SEC or NASD compliance requirements for email retention.

Led a Merger & Acquisition project that established the synchronization of directories and email systems between National Commerce Financial (NCF) and SunTrust and the eventual migration of users, workstations, and email from NCF to SunTrust as part of the NCF Merger.

Senior Non Commissioned Officer (Retired), United States Army, 1986 ? 2011

As an Associate Professor of Military Science, instructed over 240 ROTC cadets over a 10 year period at the Georgia Institute of Technology on military history, leadership, small unit tactics and physical fitness in preparation for their service as Officers in the United States Army.

Presented instruction to 900 entry-level personnel per year on job related skills. Assisted with user support and maintenance of unit level, local area network. Assisted new users in learning the use of new software, NT, and performed user level maintenance.

Presented instruction to 180 junior managers per year on small unit administration and operation. Scope of instruction included personnel administration and record keeping, supply and logistic operations, counseling and evaluations.

Supervised, trained and led 36 highly trained airborne infantry specialists with the mission of deploying anywhere in the world within 18 hours. Responsible for the morale, welfare, training, counseling, and career development of these personnel as well as over one million dollars worth of weapons and equipment.

Served in Berlin for 6 years and have been deployed on two combat tours.
