I currently work as an Administrative assistant/receptionist for Memorial Hermann in the Home Health department. I am responsible for answering phone calls from patients, clinicians and physicians and directing them to the correct department. I greet patients coming into the office for respiratory therapy appointments and notify the therapists of their arrival. I am responsible for printing daily discharge reports, physician verbal orders, patient lab results from Quest Diagnostic as well as new patient referrals and faxing them to Physician offices and other home health departments while protecting patient information as required by HIPPA law. I also run bi-weekly mileage reports and ensure there are no deficiencies for payroll. I am responsible for keeping the clinician storage room fully stocked with supplies they may need for patient care, and I place new orders when necessary. At times I may have to print and scan orders to clinicians in the field. I keep a well-organized work space to include alphabetized binders of supply requisitions, fax forms and other important and frequently used forms. Along with answering calls and my other clerical duties I am also required to work a work flow which sometimes requires me to review patient charts to check for discharge forms and document in patient charts, auto fax missed visit reports to physicians, and check for signatures that have been scanned in. I am in charge of the upkeep and proper use of medical supply company account numbers, as well as updating phone lists and clinician lists. I am responsible for weekly inventory of the My Health Advocate monitors. I use several PC software programs to include but not limited to; Microsoft outlook, excel, word, Homecare Home base (which is where I get my work flow from), Care 360, and Medline. On a daily basis I am required to use a scanner, copy machine, fax machine, a multiline phone and a dual screen PC.

While working as an MSA at the Army Medical Center, my job duties consisted of a variety of receptionist, clerical and record keeping activities associated with patient care and treatment in one clinic. I received calls and visitors to the unit while applying guidelines concerning release of patient information, as well as refer patients to the appropriate staff member. As a CNA for Cypresswoods I worked under the supervision of an RN and assisted in carrying out a daily plan of care based on protocols, experience and knowledge of the patient individually by listening to our daily report of the patient at the beginning of every shift to familiarize myself with the patient. I was responsible for receiving and screening patients by collecting data from the patients and their family members, taking vital signs and documenting data in the patient's medical chart and advising the RN of abnormal vitals and also isolating patients with contagious diseases when necessary. Other daily care duties included assisting with proper nutrition and accurately recording meal and nourishment intake, ensuring all safety precautions were observed by making sure all call lights were within reach, all bed alarms were being used properly, side rails were up, patient's bed was in its lowest position as well as answering call lights promptly, monitoring patients at regular intervals and reporting patient's condition to the RN on duty and monitoring as well as recording our patient's

vital signs, and intake/output measurements. I was also required to complete a variety of maintenance tasks such as cleaning and washing instruments, cleaning patient bedside unit’s equipment and furniture, and collecting and disposing of soiled linens also ensuring neatness and cleanliness of the patient’s rooms and maintaining patient care items. Once I completed my nursing assistant competency based orientation program I was able to participate in a work study program where I would train junior personnel from the local and surrounding high schools to perform patient care by providing and reinforcing patient education information, promoting patient rights, effective customer service and communication.

As a medical assistant I also performed front office duties which included but were not limited to, receiving phone calls from patients, physicians, and other medical facilities, personally handling routine calls, scheduling patient visits and facility meetings, as well as preparing a variety of correspondence I was also responsible for updating all patient demographics and some record keeping.
