TRIDENT TRAINING FACILITY KINGS BAY, GA Strategic Nuclear Command and Control Lead Instructor November 2015 – Present

Course Supervisor for 6 courses, responsible for curriculum development and maintenance, as well as subordinate instructor qualifications and proficiency evaluations.

Directly responsible for the certification of 12 SSBN crews in the nuclear command and control (NC2) mission area, requiring oversight of a multi-million dollar laboratory simulator.

Personally responsible for overseeing the training of prospective Commanding/Executive Officers

(PCO/PXO); to date, provided lecture and laboratory training to 100 PCO/PXOs and officers.

Qualified Master Training Specialist in less than one year, normally a two year qualification.

Hold several collateral duties including Top Secret Control Officer and primary custodian of NC2 materials.

DIVISION OFFICER, USS WYOMING(GOLD) (SSBN-742) KINGS BAY, GA Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) & Officer of the Deck (OOD) August 2013 –October 2015

Senior shift supervisor in the Nuclear plant (EOOW) and the Submarine (OOD).

Supervised plant operations and maintenance to ensure strict compliance with approved procedures.

Selected as one of three Officers of the Deck during a Tactical Readiness Evaluation, a position normally filled by a more senior officer. Recognized as an outstanding performer.

Responsible for the safe navigation of one of the Navy's most advanced Nuclear powered submarines both on the surface and submerged – while meticulously managing collateral duties as listed below.

Supervised troubleshooting efforts of solid-state DC-DC converters, various instrumentation circuits, motor controllers, and AC/DC generators/converters/inverters while supervising the electrical distribution system onboard with 450VAC and 250VDC busses.

Communications Officer November 2014 – August 2015

Managed the training, qualification, and professional development of 11 personnel.

Earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (NAM) for meticulous management of WYOMING’s patrol report; a ship-wide report which was used to brief the senior commander of the submarine force as well as the senior commander of all strategic nuclear forces.

Also earned a NAM for supervising the troubleshooting and repair of vital communications systems onboard WYOMING, the first repair of its kind performed at sea, allowing WYOMING to achieve continuous communications on patrol. This included troubleshooting multiple relay and instrumentation circuits. Single-handedly developed the retest and criteria for satisfactory performance.

Developed a comprehensive ship-wide training program and directed all aspects of its implementation. This program directly contributed to WYOMING being selected for the 2015 Omaha Trophy by USSTRATCOM as the best SSBN in the US Navy, as noted in the previous award citation, as well as two Battle ‘E’ Efficiency awards for best submarine in Kings Bay.

Safeguarded over 1000 line-items of Communications Security material as Primary EKMS Manager through the use of a rigorous inspection program and locally developed best practices.

Ship’s Diving Officer July 2014 – August 2015

Responsible for calculating the ship’s dive compensation prior to submerging, determining the amount and placement of water to be pumped onboard.

Responsible for managing the program to ensure all hull-penetrating valves and emergency surfacing valves were in the proper position at all times.

Reactor Controls Assistant November 2013 – November 2014

Managed the training, qualification, and professional development of 9 personnel in the maintenance and operation of nuclear instrumentation and primary plant control circuitry.

Rebuilt the Reactor Controls Audit and Surveillance program and raised accomplishment rates for surveillances from 50% to 110% of Navy requirements. Numerous external evaluators commended the program’s management and results.

Improved external audit grades and division marks from significantly below average to above average in one full training cycle through focused training and practical evolutions based on results from surveillance program.

Developed multiple troubleshooting guides and directly supervised the quick repair of vital primary pump control/valve position indication circuitry that allowed the ship to depart for patrol on time.

Damage Control Assistant April 2013 – November 2013

Led 10 members of a junior Auxiliary Division through three months of pre-patrol certification and an arduous in-port repair period prior to a lengthy patrol.

Trained and qualified all newly reported personnel on damage control and submarine fundamentals.

Approved and supervised over 50 quality assurance (QA) and SUBSAFE maintenance items without rework or incident.
