I have a background in efficiency, educationally trained to be an efficiency engineer and had ample opportunities to recommend and implement improved processes in Information Technology.

I had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles and with the different services of an Information Technology Organization, including development, enhancement, maintenance, and user support.

Tasks Summary:

I provided Maintenance Support for their existing Business Intelligence Application that is in the process of being replaced.

I provided Development Support for their Finance Department’s Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse.

As a Quality Analyst, I help determine and perform the newly defined Quality Analyst Role for Data Warehousing. Testing of development processes, prior to Production Devlivery, are defined, performed and documented.

Major Accomplishment(s):

I started up the QA Team for the Business Intelligence Group, defining the Quality Analyst Roles and setting up Standards and Procedures for the Team.

Platform(s):

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is their Database Platform. Microsoft’s Business Intelligence Development Studio, including Integrated Services and Analysis Services, is the Development Tool utilized to create their Business Intelligence cubes for utilization by their users. With the use of Pivot Tables in Microsoft Office Excel 2007, the cubes are their source of Business Intelligence data, to perform their Ad-Hoc queries and reporting. Microsoft Visual SourceSafe and Visual Studio are other tools utilized for Development Support.

Tasks Summary:

I was contracted to support their old ERP Application, TECSYS, that runs on an IBM Unix Informix Platform and assist with the conversion to the new ERP Application, IFS, that runs on a Windows NT Oracle Platform. Aside from Application support, I provided Data Base Administration Support for TECSYS.

I utilized Crystal Report to create customize reports to complement the replacement ERP Application.

I utilized PL/SQL to perform data extraction and cleansing. The data was then utilized by Crystal Report for reporting.

I work on the initial design and creation of a Data Warehouse to store their current & historical data into a SQL Server Platform. This platform will be utilized as the source for their Business Intelligence.

I utilized Informix SQL procedures to extract data from TECSYS for input into the Data Warehouse platform.

Major Accomplishment(s):

I assisted with the conversion of their existing application to IFS, an ERP application.

I designed and started up their Data Warehouse on an SQL Server Platform.

Tasks Summary:

I worked with the discretionary team to perform development work for Keane’s outsource client Allmerica of Worcester, Massachusett. Allmerica was a Financial Life Insurance and Annuity Company. We worked on the Legacy to Staging phase to Extract, Transform and Load data into their Corporate database. The database platform is DB2. We used Cobol, Informatica and Crystal Report for the phase to perform data extraction, cleansing, loading and reporting.

I was part of the Keane team that achieved Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 5. CMM is used to measure organizations in terms of the maturity of their software development processes and methodologies. Standards were especially focused on the Testing Processe s to ensure high quality for the deliverables. Level 5 is the highest level of the CMM.

Major Accomplishment(s):

I assisted in the transformation of data from Legacy systems to the Staging Phase of a Data Warehouse.

I was part of the team that helped achieve Level 5 of the Capability Maturity Model (CMM).

Tasks Summary:

My last assignment was with Telus' Corporate Data Warehouse Data Acquisition Team. We provided Extract, Transformation and Load of data from Legacy Applications residing in the Mainframe and other Operational Applications residing in Unix Client/Servers. I provided development, maintenance and pager support for the group. Aside from utilizing DB2 Utility Tools, one of the ETL tools that I utilized during this assignment was the ETI Extract tool.

One assignment that I successfully completed was to provide development, enhancement and maintenance support for Stentor’s International Settlements (ISDP) application utilizing Oracle Developer 2000 Tools. My roles with these projects were both as an Application Developer and as a Database Administrator. SQLForms, SQLReportwriter, PL/SQL and SQL Loader were some of the Oracle Developer 2000 Tools that we utilized.

Another assignment that I also completed successfully was to provide maintenance support for Stentor’s Call Processing (CP) and Customer Folder Management (CFM) applications running on IBM Mainframe utilizing Cobol, ADABAS & CICS.

I managed the systems and consulting needs for a member organization consisting of approximately 120 healthcare facilities. I managed a staff ranging from a low of 8 personnel to a high of 20 personnel.

I recommended and implemented the new corporate direction.

I co-ordinated two user groups responsible for recommending the replacement Payroll system and common healthcare systems solutions.

I was responsible for recommending a replacement data entry solution that would reduce cost by 50% and drastically reduce the percentage of data entry errors. Providing incorrect payroll cheques for our clients’ staff was a highly contentious issue and was a n for concern. The Group supported applications including Financial Accounting systems, Payroll, CPI/ADT, and Staff Scheduling System. Hardware platforms used were AS/400 and PC LANs, running OS/400 and PC LANs, running OS/400 and Novell Netware. Development software consisted of Cobol, Basic, Cognos Powerhouse and Impromptu.

Major Accomplishment(s):

I recommended a replacement data entry solution that would reduce the cost by over 50% and drastically reduce the percentage of data entry errors. Unfortunately, a bigger organization took over the company and laid me off along with the Executive Director, prior to implementing the solution.

I successfully implemented the new corporate direction, after making the recommendation directly to the Board of Directors.

Our organization offered applications including Financial Accounting systems, Payroll, Accountants’ Work In Progress, Property Management System and Construction Job Costing System. Hardware platforms used were Univac 9480 and Univac 9030, running OS/4 and OS/3. Development software consisted of Cobol and RPG II.

NDC Computer Services Ltd. took over the organization when National DataCentre Corporation went into bankruptcy. I was given the position of Processing Services Manager and asked to combine both the Edmonton and Calgary offices. I successfully completed the operational integration with Edmonton providing all of Alberta’s processing and Calgary simply providing data entry and reporting for their clients. However, the company went into bankruptcy again because the Vancouver and Toronto operations were not as successful in either cutting their costs or increasing their revenues.

Major Accomplishment(s):

I successfully integrated the 2 branches in Alberta (Calgary and Edmonton) into one with the Head Office integrated processing in Edmonton with a satellite office in Calgary providing the Data Entry and output of deliverables. This was done when National DataCentre Corporation went into bankruptcy and NDC Computer Services took over, firing both Branch Managers and the Data Processing Manager of Edmonton and giving me the Processing Service/Product Support Manager position.
