Objective: Value Stream Manager
Highlights of Qualifications
. An diversified, energetic and enthusiastic individual with extensive
skills and over 10 years' experience as a Manufacturing, and
Industrial Engineer, Quality, Production Inventory Control, and Plant
Manager.
. My skills include developing and utilizing Value Stream Maps, Project
Management (PERT) Charts, Gantt Charts, Capacity Resource Planning,
Budgeting, Production Line Layouts, Bill-of- Materials, Flow
Diagrams, Just-In Time, Quality Systems, Line Balancing, Fishbone
Diagrams, Six Sigma Techniques, set up Material Kanbans, Hyper-
Learning, ISO 9001:2008, Manufacturing Process Instructions, tracking
and improving the company's Key Value Process Indicators (KVP).
Career Achievements
Fox Shox's, Senior Industrial Engineer
. Improved the Power Sport Division's overall productivity from 67% to 85%
by cross training employees to perform a variety of cellular operations
to line balance the production, while also utilizing Just-In-Time
Techniques. Implement Industrial Engineering reporting mechanism to
immediately identify and eliminate performance issues and quality
discrepancies. Used customer takt time's to develop material flow
diagrams and Value Stream Maps to balance two shock manufacturing
production lines, which saved over $1,200,000. Performed Pareto's
Analysis on the Production Control schedule to reduce small quantity
orders from 85% to 67% by using Group Technology. Submitted potential
Industrial Engineering saving for over $5,000,000.
Aerospace, McStarlite Company, Lean Manufacturing Project Manager
. Utilized Six Sigma (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control
Concepts) with advanced laser technologies to improve the company's
Total Quality Control (TQC) System. This technology improved quality,
productivity and product throughput and the savings amounted to
$6,217,093.
. Identified bottleneck operations and minimized (muda - waste) developing
and utilizing Value Stream Map's (VSM) with the managers, supervisors
and lead employees. These Value Stream Maps improved product throughput
four weeks. Update the manufacturing layout and analyze the "spaghetti
flow diagram" to reduce traveling distances, costs and improve product
throughput an additional two weeks.
. Developed a Capacity Plan which reduced the over producing of products
and implemented a line of balancing employee strategy plan. Both of
these activities improved customer's on-time-delivery from 85% to 97.9%.
. Performed Time and motion studies and updated 92% of all products
manufactured within the company. Improved employee time reporting in a
multi-culture environment from 85% to 99.5%. This was accomplished by
retraining the employees and using mathematical formulas to monitor the
operator's time inputs.
. Hyper-Learning concepts were used to train employee, supervisors, leads
and employees implement 5S concepts (Sort, Straighten, Shine,
Standardize and Sustain). Validated employee's learning experience using
tests, quizzes and simulation models. The implementation of new standard
time standards, employee reporting and 5S concepts helped organize the
employee's workplace and improved productivity 23%.
. Pareto's Analysis was used to determine the company's major products.
This analysis identified that 7 of 100 products encompassed 82% of the
dollar volume.
Sanyo Solar U.S.A., Quality Assurance Manager
. Use teambuilding, participative management and listening skills to
create synergetic teams to accomplish company goals. Managed fourteen
Spanish speaking employees and determined QC, Packaging and Data Entry
Departmental staffing requirements as the company increased its overall
throughput from 500,000 to 1,000,000 Wafers per month.
. Improved Quality Control Department's Inspection of Wafer, by automating
this process and using Six Sigma (DMAIC) and Statistical Process Control
concepts. This system provided Production with immediate feedback on
their wafer manufacturing processes which saved them $1,599,710
productivity improvements. This increased the Wire Saw Wafer
Department's and Wafer Cleaning yields from 93% to 99%. Purchased new
measurement equipment Wire Mark, Resistivity Checkers, MX203, FTIR and
other equipment to improve Wafer Analysis. These Quality Control
improvements caused our Japanese customer to eliminate the incoming
inspection process of our products which saved them $3,597,175.
. Designed and implemented an automated Ingot Measurement and Inspection
System which improved ingot throughput 100% using Digital Calibers and
Dell Computers. Created and installed a semi-automated Statistical
Process Control System for the Quality Control Ingot Inspection
Department which improved ingot yields 12% and saved $1,820,000 by
implementing a Statistical Process Control Program
APW, Manufacturing Eng. / Product Mgr. / Sub Assembly Plant Mgr.
. Managed the implementation of "Lean Manufacturing" Visual Factory
Management, Value Stream Mapping, Six Sigma, SMED (Quick Changeover),
Mistake-proofing, and Kaizen Blitz concepts as production increased from
$500K to $28M in two years. Developed Pareto's Analysis, the capacity
plan, performing time and motion studies, designing the plant layout,
training employees and installing the following systems: Work Flow
Diagrams, Just-In-Time (JIT), Total Factory Automation (TFA), Total
Preventive Maintenance (TPM), Total Employee Involvement (TEI),
Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Quality Management (TQM) and
Kaizen. Developed Return on Investment (ROI) for capital equipment
purchases. Developed manufacturing process instructions which were
submitted and approved by the quality assurance and manufacturing
engineering. All of these systems and activities reduced production hours
from 8.0 to 2.5, improved yields from 80% to 98%, and reduced machinery
downtime from 9% to 1%. The entire savings for these projects amounted
to $1,507,000.
. Managed and trained a Mechanical - Electrical Assembly Line of fifty (50)
employees that implemented Just-In-Time, 5S, Work Simplification and Line
Balancing Concepts as a team. Distributed production assignments based
upon dispatch workload priorities. The results from this assignment were
a 43% production increase in sixty (60) days. Monitored budgets and Key
Value Indicators to adjust company strategies to increase profits.
. Created Quality Improvement Teams (Kaizen Teams) which reviewed and
assessed the Failure Analysis and Root Cause of Customer Quality
problems. These teams designed the House-of-Quality and improved the
company's overall Quality 15% using Lean Manufacturing Strategies.
Received the "Living Our Values Award" for developing and working
together in Quality Teams. Assisted in the implementation and
Certification of ISO 9001. ISO Certification improved the company's
overall quality 25%. Develop yearly and monthly budgets and production
schedules with top management to meet company Key Value Indicators and
profit margins.
. Used historical data, stopwatch time studies and predetermined time
standards to develop departmental productivity and cost standards
measurements. These measurements were used to line balance the
production line, determine standard costs, return on investments, process
trend analysis, standardize workloads, eliminate bottlenecks and increase
employee performance 27%.
