Reduced warehouse order processing time from 3 days to 24 hours. Coordinated multiple departments to increase efficiency and order accuracy. Overhauled staffing for drastic cost savings. Shavel Home Products, Inc. Trenton, NJ

Operations/Turnkey Manager, 2003 – 2007

Selected a facility for East Coast operations and was primary decision maker in matters of plant layout and renovations, hiring and training of new employees, and development of relationships with local vendors. Developed a facility with capacity to receive product, package, warehouse, and ship. Had full P&L responsibility for East Coast region, including designing informative P&L reports (implemented by Company IT personnel) that would effectively track performance against key financial and operational metrics including gross margin, order fill times, days inventory on hand, etc.

Joined this third-party packaging company during a reorganization and accepted responsibility for improving the quality of service provided to customers (in the food and cosmetics industry). Role also involved oversight of production, assembly, customer service, quality control, warehouse inventory, shipping, plant maintenance, AIB certification, and financial results. Managed six office personnel, nine production supervisors, and 120 other employees.

Director of Operations, Distribution, Production & Packaging Services, 1990 – 2001

Progressed from Warehouse Manager to Plant Manager, to Director role at this $60 million per year mass market stationary business which included manufacturing and distribution operations in the US, China, and Mexico. Effectively planned for and managed costs, hiring, and logistical concerns related to huge seasonal shifts in sales related to Back to School season and an increasingly demanding customer base which included Walmart and Target. Had responsibility for various P&L cost centers and reported directly to the President. Significantly improved profitability via increasing capacity, improving on-time shipment rating, increasing order accuracy (which lowered returns), negotiating volume discounts, moving towards just-in-time inventory for certain product lines, and inventive solutions to international procurement. Charged with daily decision making for three shifts of operations at three domestic locations and maintained relationships with key vendors in the trucking, packaging, and temporary employment agency. Effectively coordinated and motivated 400 employees under my direction. When the Company was sold in 2000, stayed on to continue operations during the transition period and, with diminished capacity and resources, efficiently moved US operations to the West Coast and China.
