BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

To prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, structures and fixtures,

including the use of spray painting equipment.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Repair surface before painting, filling holes and cracks with putty or patching plaster.

Select, mix and blend paint to meet colour, consistency, surface composition and

durability criteria.

Assemble, operate, maintain and clean spray painting equipment.

Spray paint onto interior or exterior surfaces, including walls, machinery, furniture,

cabinets. Smokestacks and structural steel work.

Finish new furniture or refinish, including desks, chairs, cabinets and their components,

alternating spray application of stain, varnish, lacquer or shellac with a sanding or buffing

operation.

Prepare and paint motor vehicles and or automotive equipment.

Remove wallpaper using a steaming unit.

Prepare surfaces for painting by washing, scraping brushing, sanding and sealing.

Hang or lay drop cloth to protect against dripping and splashing.

Mask adjacent areas, which are not to receive paint.

Erect scaffolding and ladders.

Roll or brush paint onto interior or exterior surfaces, such as walls, trim, machinery,
