Career History

Experience as Design Engineer for Axis working onsite for Caterpillar Inc. Apr’15 – Present

Large Mining Truck Transmission Design Engineer

Delivered designs and 3D CAD models for Machine components of off-road mining truck transmission such as Gears, Planet Carriers, Hubs, Piston & Clutch assembly packs, bearings, Housings & Casting structures, and utilized FEA (finite element analysis) simulation software’s to optimize design.

Delivered 3D designs and 2D drawings for components and group assemblies and designed tools and assembly fixtures, to support transmission build and documented build manual with lessons learned.

Supplier coordination for tooling cost and on time material delivery with strict time constrains following launch dates for proto-type build and production releasing parts.

Worked with dealers, suppliers, and component team and systems engineer team to identify root cause analysis by defining a problem statement using fishbone diagram.

Designed bracket mountings to assemble Solenoid valve, ECPC valve, speed sensors, hydraulic hose routings and sensor harness for transmission in a cost reduction project.

Supervised cross functional team to fix deadlines and lunch dates for ordering parts from various suppliers by ensuring on time delivery of brackets for prototype and production builds.

Delivered conceptual designs on continuous improvement projects and conducted DFMEA meetings to develop new design concepts based on Value Analysis/ Value Engineering (VA/VE) & DMAIC.

Delivered cost savings by reducing castings weight by 5% and improved product and process cost.

Contributed my expertise and support to work floor technicians in helping them throughout transmission builds.

Delivered 10% cost savings by designing fabricated enclosure to replace Transmission outer casting in order to simplify complicated design, manufacturing and lower cost of Production.

Conducted team meetings and offshore work coordination, creating Electronic change Notices (ECN) and releasing new designs using Team center.

Design Engineer at Care-soft Global Inc (CNH Goodfield – IL) Feb’13 – Mar’15

Experience with concept designs, validation and presenting analytical calculations for Agriculture Machinery.

Eliminated stress concentrated areas on field cultivators, by using FEA simulation tools.

Supplier collaboration in getting quotes for designed brackets for adding electrically operated hydraulic valves on field cultivator frames and compartment.

Designed plastic connectors and composite mountings (steel bracket clamp molded with plastic) to fix hydraulic solenoid values on to the filed cultivator chassis.

Worked on tight schedule and fast paced environment to design 4 field cultivator designs in the span of one year by tracking parts from various suppliers using time management skills to meet the launch dates.

Generated spreadsheets for calculations for hydraulic operated fold linkages, springs for new shank designs, and dynamic linkages for raise and lower of transport wheels.

Developed concepts using 3D CAD models and moving forward with designing, detailing and releasing of simple sheet metal parts to complex castings and welded chassis frame members.

Delivered designs for hydraulic hose circuit and produced 3D CAD models for Hydraulic routings.

Reduced rear harrow attachment weight for field cultivators by 10% to provide stable transport.

Participated in design reviews and Optimized Design requirements working with R&D engineers - establishing testing setup, strain gauging, field testing, documenting and validating results.

Design Engineer at Belcan Corporation, Peoria, IL Jun’ 12 -Jan’13

3D Modeling, detailing, and checking activities performed as per Caterpillar standards.

Applied GD&T – ASME Y14.5 2009 standards for completeness of engineering drawings.

Utilized Caterpillar tools like HVC, EDS, and Vis-View to update designs as per requirement

Familiar with Caterpillar product and process 1E specifications for producing detailed drawings.

Caterpillars OEM Fluid lines routing for transmission group and engine group.

Designed machining Fixture and structural analysis for machining Oil filter base on a CNC 5-axis machine to help supplier cut down loading time, locating inside fixture and machining time.

Designed Brake Disc Removal Tool from DST project, and did structural analysis.

Assistant Design Engineer, PRETO Tooling systems, Hyderabad, INDIA. Jun’09- Jun’10

Experience in designing Press tools such as Pillar die set, Ball sleeves, Jigs, and standard mould bases.

Capturing customer requirements and implemented designs to some of the most complex stamping projects

Selection of materials and processes providing better tool performance and optimal quality of finished product.

Fabrication of Electro-spinning setup to create Nano-fibers for Bio-medical research Jan’12 – May’12

Designed and manufacture of rotating drum Electro Spinning setup for producing aligned Nano-fiber Matrix.

Worked closely with Bio-medical team to create new Nano-fiber Matrix for Tissue Engineering Research.

Most of this research concerns in vitro cell culturing on Nano-fiber Matrix to evaluate cell adhesion, proliferation, gene expansion, and extracellular matrix secretion.

Design, Analysis and Fabrication of 4-stroke Compressed Air Engine Nov’08-May’09

Research assistant, Mechanical Engineering Department, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India

As final year engineering project created 3d model of 4 stroke single cylinder engine by taking dimensions of actual engine parts for better presenting working principle and thermal cycle.

Compressed air engine (CAE) is made using a regular 4 stroke motorcycle engine with added modifications to change its working medium from gasoline to compressed air.

All modifications are fabricated as per the designs and used some aftermarket electronic and pneumatic components to complete the build.
