Analysis of new local exchange formulas for Density Functional Theory calculation of atoms and molecules. Quantum chemistry software and databases were used with newly developed formulas alongside super computers in order to approximate the exchange energy of fermionic systems under Dr. Peverati.

Silver, Aluminum and Gold Nanoparticles

The research covered different aspects of Nanotechnology. The goal of the project was to determine the effect on capping and reducing agents on the stability of silver, aluminum and gold nanoparticles. An application the nanoparticles can be used for is a metal/organic powder that conducts electricity and a metal/organic suspension that is stable in storage and yields maximum energy when oxidized intentionally. The research was under Dr. Brenner and involves the use of different microscopes (SEM, TEM, AFM and STM).
