EXPERIENCE

TROSTEL LTD.

Sr. Design Engineer, 6/2016 - Present

Designed rubber seals for high volume applications such as automotive and consumer products. Managed projects from costing to full production. Worked with production, quality, and manufacturing to reduce design costs and optimize performance.

Designed reverse-rotating propeller shaft seals for high-end motorboats using a combination of rubber and PTFE seals.

Developed seal designs, and created test procedures to determine pressure and fluid loss in automotive gas spring seals.

Conducted FEA using Abaqus to determine stresses and deflections on pressure relief seals.

GARDNER DENVER

Design Engineer III, 11/2014 – 1/2016

Designed next-generation high-pressure (10-15,000 Psi) hydraulic packing seals for shale fracturing and drilling pumps. Specialist for polymer material selection. Monitored testing in-field and on-site at rebuild facility.

Redesigned high-pressure rubber-composite hydraulic packing seals for shale fracturing and drilling pumps.

Developed and conducted prototype testing; evaluated and presented results to team members by reports and presentations.

Worked directly with customers to evaluate and improve existing pump and drilling equipment.

Wrote test specifications and reports. Conducted design reviews for high-pressure sealing systems, pumps, valves, and seats.

TRELLEBORG SEALING SOLUTIONS / BUSAK + SHAMBAN

Senior Applications Engineer, 6/1993 – 5/2014

Designed sealing systems and recommend seals for various applications (aerospace, energy, construction, manufacturing, medical, food & beverage, bike & motorcycle). Kept abreast of polymer and composite materials, manufacturing techniques, and sealing

and bushing concepts. Attended joint calls with sales engineers to understand customer requirements and develop customized solutions for every project and application.

Résumé – Page 2 of 2

Developed over-molded blood centrifuge diaphragm from prototype to production, improving reliability from ~10% to 100%.

Worked with manufacturing to develop 3-meter rotary wiper for Vestas wind turbines from prototype to production. Our new design reduced the replacement time from a full day to under a half hour.

Documented engineering procedures, opened and oversaw departments in Colorado, Asia Pacific, Mexico, and South America.

Oversaw 20+ Applications Engineers in Asia & South America as we from one to 15 marketing companies from 1993-2004.

Supported 5 Sales Engineers helping TSS Mountain (Colorado) grow from $3.5 million to $12 million in ten years.

Worked on international committee to understand, categorize, develop, and standardize forensic seal failure analysis methods.
