Industries Worked In

This is some of the basics Industries that I have worked in.

* Mostly Cake Bakery Industry

Two years in Sanitation. Nine months in project engineering. Over 16 years on regular engineering crew. Over 9 years in engineering management.

* Industrial Sewing Machines

Three years in engineering management and maintenance.

* Custom made Industrial Furnaces

Over five years, building industrial furnaces, robots, electric elements, interim foreman, etc.

*Automotive and Automotive Aftermarket

Around 5 years in various aspects, including helping setting up the reopening of a GM plant, robotic mechatronics, tooling repeatability studies, head light aimers, safety bag gas fillers, rear view mirrors, trailer electric hook up harnesses. Friction and laser welding. Production camera systems.

* Steel Forming Mill

Served as electrical technician and system controls technician.

Mechanical Design and Project Management Experience

This is some of the basics Industrial mechanical design and project management experience that I have done and been involved in, both technical and mechanical.

* My Favorite One

Had a donut cutter mobile head system that was entirely hard wire controlled. This one was huge; it took electrical down time from thousands of minutes a year to zero minutes of downtime a year. I designed and wrote this project and programming from scratch on a limited budget.

* Designed and Built One of the Original Robots

Built a robot set that installed and removed gas cylinders from a rotary hearth furnace (which I also built).

These robots were in the late 70’s before automation, so they were completely hard wire controlled.

* Ran the Industrial Sewing Machine Department for the Mitten Covered Ice Scrapers.

Note: This item was the most popular fad item ever; it even beat the hula hoop.

I had lockstitch, surger, toy closer, and embroidery sewing machines.

I had to learn these machines, train a crew, and run entire department as instructed by plant owner.

I was told by vendors that I was running these machines faster than designed for and was requested for info on how I did this.

* Industrial Conveying Systems

Please see info on other pages.

This is very large, even more so than info on other pages. More info upon request.

* Industrial Gas and Control Systems

Please see info on other pages.

This is very large, even more so than info on other pages. More info upon request.

ETC: More Info upon request.

Products Worked With

This is some of the basics of products that I have worked with (mostly concentrating on technical items).

* PLC’s and HMI’s

My favorite and most experience with is of course Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation). I have been around since we used printed circuit boards and punch tape program loaded computers for automated machinery. I have also done work with the old DOS operated Allen Bradley, the old GE PLC’s, Modicon PLC’s, and of course when Square D tried to get into the PLC business. I have done others when required such as Omoron, etc. I have been through Allen Bradley growth and upgrades through the years.

*Currently learning Fanuc/GE DOS operated PLC’s. For Steel forming mill that has to contract this work. Since I am the first PLC tech they have had for many years.

* DC Controllers and Invertors and Softstarts

I worked with a large number of DC controllers in the days before Invertors. I worked with various invertors back when they were giant and did very little and programmed with dip switches, jumpers, and potentiometers.

My favorite today is the Allen Bradley Power Flex products. Although I have done limited work with other brands such as ABB, etc.

* Smart Relays

My only experience with smart relays is of course the Allen Bradley Pico. They have come a long way with these at decent prices. My only complaint is they have not yet integrated seamless communication (such as Ethernet) to PLC’s as opposed to using IO.

* Industrial Temperature Controllers

My favorites are Honeywell and Omron. I have worked with Partlow, Watlow, etc.

* Timers

My favorites are Omron. I was around when all we had was the old Eagle timers, we are all aware of the problems and work arounds from these things. I have worked with some others, but nothing compares to Omron or possibly Allen Bradley PLC’s and smart relays.

* Other Items

I can discuss this with you as you may need. You may possibly need to know about modulating motors, such as Honeywell and others. Automated Electric or Pneumatic screw driving controllers. Some Robotics such as Fanuc and motoman. Various production camera systems, such as Banner, Keyence, and Wenglor. Different laser and friction welders. Various fiber optics, infra-red, reed switches, image sensors, light bar protective devices, the newer solid state switches that replaced mercury switches, etc. Soft-Start, Servo Drives, Various Networks (my favorite Ethernet), safety systems, various encoders, etc. Microsoft products such as word, excel, power point, computer systems, scale systems, etc. The list goes on and on.

*Non-Technical

Please see my resume. I have worked with and am familiar with all aspects of industrial maintenance.

Various Other Accomplishments

This is some of the other various accomplishments that I have worked on.

* Conveyor Design

I have designed, built, and improved numerous conveyor systems. Most of my conveyor system experience involves cloth conveyors, belting conveyors of numerous types, roller conveyors, and of course system controlling. I have some limited experience with overhead train systems.

I have contacts with various conveyor system suppliers such MRI, Intralox, Linx, Hytrol, etc.

I even built a test curve belt for Intralox that was used in a new product introduction in Las Vegas, in the 90’s.

* Gas systems

I have designed, built and installed gas control systems for donut fryers, industrial ovens, boilers and boiler water supply systems, from scratch, etc.

* Control Systems

I specialize in control system design, fabrication, and installation. Including hardwire and automation. Including writing automation from scratch. If it’s not done right to begin with it’s not done right.

* Test Bench

Designed and Built Test Benches

Including fuse testing, motor testing, multiple voltage item testing, line monitoring (including voltage, current, frequency, power factor, etc).

*Facility Maintenance

Maintenance, design, installation, etc.

* All Industrial Involved Items

Please see a basic overview on my resume. There is of course more.
