Responsibilities, Formulate medicines per batch records.

Animal Health

Boehringer Ingelheim - Elwood, KS - 1991 to 2004

15th and Oak Elwood Kansas. Job Description: Formulate

Medicines. Duties: Using approved raw materials I would follow GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES as

well as F.D.A. guidelines to blend products in mixers then punch pills or Pouch medicines. Fork truck

experience, Machine assembly and disassembly. Warehouse experience. . I invented a pouch for a product

and was rewarded for this greatly. I bottled, encapsulated, and hand counted millions of medicines in tablet

form ensuring each bottle got the correct amount. I labeled each and every bottle I worked on. Strict cGmp,

S.O.P, guidelines to prevent cross contamination. I also would blend antibiotics using floor scales and table

scales, starting with calculating the potency of the active ingredient into the batch size then in each and every

step of other fillers would be put in separate bags until the batch was completely weighed up then under strict

check by's on calculations, each ingredient would be added into a mixer and blended using a certified

stop watch insuring exact mixing time was achieved. After the product was blended I would use a numbered

barrel screen to screen the product making sure no clumps were in the batch. Once the screened product was

finished I would weigh the barrel and calculate the weight with the potency coming out at 100%. I have blended

3,000.00 lb batch's of powders and used a tote with a forklift putting the finished product on a stand and running

it through a pouching machine. All contingent on the outcome of the sampling results if the powder was correct

per the rules and regulations. The pouching machine would pouch 1.5lb bags or 1/2 lb bags using different bag

formers depending on which bag size the batch record called for. I also bottled pills using a rotating platform

disk with the amount of holes in it for the exact count per bottle. Once the bottle was filled at the beginning of

the run we would stop and do a physical count insuring the exact bottle had its correct amount. I have punched

pills with a rotating press with the correct dies per the request on the batch record of that product. Once the

entire batch was punched the batch was put on hold till Q.A. checked the dissolution time and potency then

it was taken to the pill room to be bottled. I have ran an extruder for wormers and this product was extremely

dangerous because of the active ingredient could contaminate you. Gowning with a frock and gloves with a

respirator was definite due to the vapors in the air. This product was taken to a pan room pending the outcome

of Q.A. then it was coated with sugar and other ingredients. Once this was finished it would be taken to a

pouching room and pouched all contingent on Q.A. results of the product. If something I was operating broke

down or another employee in my general area I would repair the defect to get it back up and running. I was

asked by my area manager to fix it if I can beginning with lockout tag out rules and procedures. I have several

years of welding experience. I am experienced in logging into each log book when I use a room to formulate

or package a product. Negative air pressure is monitored and recorded. I am experienced in pm each and

every machine.

Accomplishments
