SCADA and Corporate Server/Switch/Communication/UPS Upgrade Support, Iberdrola Renewables, Portland, OR

Supported Equipment Upgrade at 5 total Windfarms located in NH, PA, IL, MO, and AZ. Typical site tasks included Preparation of New Cabinets (assemble with cable management trays / install PDU tower (Power Distribution Unit), Transfer existing and new equipment and associated network cabling to new cabinets during shutdown (typically 3-5 hour window). Re- cable Intercabinet communications with new cat 6 ‘blinker’ cabling and fiber optic jumpers. Re-connect in-coming / outgoing Fiber optic, cat 5, telephone, coax, etc. cabling. Neatly dress cabinet cabling. Document cabling with Visio and photographs / video. High Performance HMI Development, NW Natural Gas, Portland, OR Worked with NW Natural SCADA and Operator Staff to develop High Performance HMI screens. Existing screens were compiled and made more efficient for Operator / Control / Dispatch personnel. HMI utilized was GE iFix Proficy 5.0

System Training, ProWest Engineering / Barrick

Supported ProWest in producing Proposal documents to provide customer in-house operation and safety training. Produced Word proposal with supporting Visio concept drawings for Arc Flash Training as related to installed base of GE 750 Feeder Protection Relays.

After customer proposal acceptance, designed a Trainer Rack for hands-on Training to supplement the Arc-Flash curriculum. Responsible for procurement, fabrication, wiring, and commissioning Trainer at the ProWest UL panel fabrication shop. Developed detailed Trainer Visio wiring and panel elevation drawings for ProWest AutoCad conversion. Developed custom hands-on training scenarios to allow operator familiarity with both hardware and software configuration of the GE 750 relay. Currently supporting in-house (ProWest) video production of 3 day seminar for DVD production for customer in-house use based this trainer.

Oil Field SCADA, TankLogix, Midland/Odessa TX

Supported TankLogix Controls team in Installation, Startup, and Repair for Tank Farm PLC/Touchscreen HMI Systems. Varied PLCs were implemented per Customer requirements, including Allen Bradley, ABB, and Schneider SCADA Pack. Fabricated in-house PLC trainer for these platforms as well.

Systems Engineer, Pacificorp Hydro Plants, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho facilities

Provides on-going support for the Hydro-Electric Modicon PLC and Intellution / GE Proficy iFix platforms for this Northwest energy provider. Includes programming

(Modicon PLC, iFix VB, others), Network design and testing, database and operator graphic development, inspection services, equipment preparation and implementation. Also included control platform migrations at PLC (GE Series Six to Modicon), and HMI

(Wonderware to Intellution / Proficy / iFix) levels. Updated existing Intellution to iFix VB script and tested / commissioned on-site. Produced project system documentation and Training as required.

Provided design and implementation of iFix SCADA HMI Security Login and Application Access.

Supports NERC / CIPS evidence production. Provides CIP review / updates, evidence compilation, quality control, evidence documentation production for review submittal. Create / Update Visio drawings as needed.

Systems Support Engineer, Iberdrola Wind Farms, Nationwide USA Provides on-going support for the SCADA related equipment as required. Includes network equipment changeouts, install fiber optic and Ethernet cabling upgrades. Produce or update drawings in Microsoft Visio and photographic as-found / as-built / as- modified evidence.

Provide field communication equipment panel modifications. Custom Panel Production: Design / Procure / Fabricate / Document PLC Rack and portable SEL equipment test rack for the Iberdrola SCADA Engineering group. Provide SCADA Lab remodel support, including: Install Panduit cable tray, re-organized Ethernet CAT 5 cabling, Produce layout options in Adobe Photoshop, develop floor plan options and final presentation documentation for floorplan placards. Provided on-demand / on-site support for the SCADA system iFix HMI upgrade at the Ft. Richardson Water Facility near Anchorage, AK. Assisted Doyon personnel to install software establish SCADA communications, develop database and operator screens. Provide on-demand / on-site support for Boiler SCADA system iFix HMI upgrade at the Ft. Wainwright Base Coal Fired Power Plant. Configured, installed, tested, and installed SCADA and terminal server equipment. Updated existing boiler floor SCADA graphic for use for plant wide access via GE Proficy Terminal Server. . Updated existing Intellution to iFix VB script and tested / commissioned on-site. Coordinated with other site contractors to implement satellite time synchronization to the Boiler iFix SCADA nodes.

Systems Support Engineer, CB Engineering / BP Milne Point Provided on-demand / on-site support for the SCADA system iFix HMI database and graphics upgrade at the Milne Point Oil Distribution Facility at this North Slope facility. Assisted BP personnel to install software, develop, commission database and operator screens.

Provides on-going support for the Allen-Bradley and Mitsubishi PLC and Intellution platforms at this major silicon wafer provider. Assists customer in new and existing systems support. Includes programming, database and operator graphic development, equipment preparation and implementation.

Systems Support Engineer, USDA – Forest Service

Provides On-Demand Troubleshooting and Repair of USDA Forest Service Ranger Stations in Central and Southern Idaho. Determines Office Printer and Plotter performance issues. Project experience at POWER Engineers, Inc. (1990-1997) includes the following:

Systems Engineer, Shen Etsu America Wafer System Facility Management and Control System (FMCS), Vancouver Washington

Part of design and commissioning team for this $880 million plant expansion. Responsible for Intellution HMI interface design and implementation. Coordinated with PLC (Allen-Bradley RSlogix 5 and RSLogix 500) development team to develop Intellution poll records, database, and graphics from project P&IDs. Developed NT 4.0 and Intellution 6.12 security hierarchy with SEH IS (Information Services) department. Also worked with the customer IS department in SCADA node installation and network configuration.

Controls Engineer, Northern States Power, Manitoba-Minnesota Transmission Upgrade (MMTU) Project, Integrated Shunt Capacitor and LTC Control Logic, North Dakota – Three Sites: Sheyenne, Prairie, and Little Fork

Developed programmable GE logic controller (PLC) architecture and ladder logic program for a high speed voltage control system integrating both shunt capacitors and transformer load tap changers. The redundant programmable logic controller architecture provided a 1.5 cycle response time with an overall system response time of 3 cycles, including Schweitzer voltage relays and breaker control pilot relays.

I&C Design, Mountain Water Company Municipal Water System SCADA, Missoula, Montana

Primary responsibilities included PLC panel layout design and initial power tests, PLC wireless / radio communication program development, and the NT 3.51 / Intellution / FIX human interface. Coordinated Allen Bradley RSLogix 5 and RSLogix 500 / SCADA ABH control network Interface development team. Worked closely with client and panel fabrication shop to assure timely and accurate fabrication in this fast-paced project. System commissioning occurred around the Christmas holiday 1995. I&C Design, Semiconductor Manufacturer Plant Expansion Projects, Boise, Idaho

Provided TI/Siemens PLC panel layout and wiring design CAD management and support for this fast-paced plant expansion project.

I&C Design, Van Waters & Rogers Pilot Dispatch Project Responsible for GE PLC master and remote programming for integration to convey chemical tank level information with telephone modems to remote HMI/Dispatch. Local integration included radio modems for master/slave communications, and local intelligent displays. Developed revised panel wiring, communication, and PLC architecture to allow for a final working design. System to be commissioned in January of 1996 and is the basis of design for 300 additional sites nationwide.

I&C Design, J. R. Simplot Company, Frozen Vegetable Plant, Pasco, Washington

Responsible as discipline lead for budget, design, layout, specification, PLC logic development processing plant PLC automation. Utilized distributed control of 14 TI/Siemens PLCs over TIWAY network. Design effort included power and control interconnection with a cable and wire database.

I&C Design, Mead-Adelanto Project Static VAR Compensator Control Buildings, California and Nevada

Responsible for design, layout and specification of fire alarm, paging/intercom, security, and telephone/data systems for major additions Los Angeles Department of Water and Power sites in Adelanto, California and Marketplace, Nevada. Facility system design included systems from Cerebus Fire Alarm, Echelon based Fuller PA/Intercom systems, Pelco CCTV and Toye. The projects involve A-E designs for each site’s Static VAR Compensator control building and associated yard equipment interconnection

I&C Design, Capacitor Bank Control, Northern States Power, Minnesota Responsible for budget, design, layout, specification, PLC logic development and commissioning of PLC equipment for integration into three substation designs. System featured redundant PLC CPUs (GE 90-30) with single scan response time on 6 and 12 bank systems. Performed FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) at Panel Fabricator facility.

I&C Design, AT&T Postlathe and UTD Projects, Atlanta, Georgia Responsible for design, layout and specification of NFPA fire alarm riser diagrams, environment monitoring, paging/intercom, security and data systems for major additions to AT&T's fiber optic manufacturing facility in Atlanta area. The projects involved A-E designs for a multi-story draw tower addition and the addition of new manufacturing process lines.

SCADA System Engineer, Wells Rural Electric Company/Newmont Gold Substation Controls/Communication Upgrade, Wells, Nevada Responsible for vendor selection, system integration (programming, Modbus network design, assembly and making the upgraded system work), installation, and commissioning for a Modicon PLC-based data transfer subsystem utilizing PLC Modbus communications over existing fiber optic link.

SCADA System Engineer, City of Medford Water Quality Control Plant SCADA Study, Medford, Oregon

Performed personnel interviews in conjunction with facility analysis to determine expansion options for the plant. Produced system analysis and implementation/planning guide for future SCADA expansion.

SCADA System Engineer, Sacramento County Department of Public Works, Arden Point Control Upgrade, Sacramento, California Updated record drawings, and prepared demolition and construction drawing package for pump monitoring and control upgrade to the plant's Modicon PLC platform.

Kern River Gas Transmission Company, Utah

Documentation Coordinator responsible for enclosure design coordination, fiber optic communication system analysis and recommendation, procurement, and expediting of remote site SCADA equipment. As a field commissioning crew member, responsible for compressor and meter station commissioning. This work included:

Verification of remote SCADA functionality to the Gas Control Center over the communication network

Troubleshooting and resolution of field hardware and software installation discrepancies for the SCADA system networking, local communications, and remote terminal units

Acquisition and expedition of field equipment

The project consisted of more than 200 drawings for 30 sites for SCADA panel design for Bristol Babcock and communication equipment.

Edwards Air Force Base, California

For this electrical SCADA project, responsible for management of project design coordination. The project consisted of over 80 drawings for over 15 sites. He served as liaison between client and engineering staff.

Imperial Irrigation District, California

Typical on-going Midwest Farm task working livestock / bale hay help maintain and operate farm equipment cultivating / plant / harvest crops, and general fabrication and repair of anything / everything (build fence, light welding, livestock feeders, and lawn maintenance).

Road and Bridge Surveys, Hancock County, Carthage, Illinois Worked two summers during college performing road and bridge surveys for the Hancock County Highway Department. Performed road and waterway surveys with traditional transit documenting elevations and noted / sketched site specific features such as timber, fences, buildings, etc. Also collected gravel truck tickets for road chipping projects, as well collected and tested concrete field samples at bridge construction sites. Supervised survey crew at second summer.
