Project 4: Vodafone TAPaS – Terminal Advanced Planning analytics System (Jun 2014 to Dec 2015)

Project Name

:Terminal Advanced Planning analytics System (Vodafone – TAPaS)

Role

: Team Lead, Production Support

Environment

: Offshore

Duration

: June 2014 to till date

Tools Used

: Oracle RPAS, UNIX, Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse

Description

Vodafone Terminals aim is to improve its planning, forecasting and replenishment processes. In this context, it uses Oracle RPAS to enable a consistent end-to-end planning, forecasting and replenishment process.

The TAPaS infrastructure solution consists of the Oracle Retail Predictive Application Server (RPAS) and the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) setup. RPAS solution encompasses Front end systems, Middleware component Fusion client running on Web Logic and the RPAS business logic.

ODI layer consists of a three tiered structure. Files delivered by the local market pass the ODI system to be adapted to the RPAS format.

ODI admin can login through ODI web server and to the web logic servers for report creation and other customizations. Planning users and Vodafone group users will be connected through HTTPS to RPAS web servers. This in turn is connected to RPAS middleware (web logic) and then to ODI

Architecture:

The three tiered Architecture layers are

The Frontend layer is the upper-most security layer that is considered to be the less trusted layer. In this layer are only systems in operation that need to have direct access from/ to external resources. The front end layer is shared between all OpCos using the service. The ODI and the RPAS solution have two separated front end layers.

Backend Layer is the application layer is the middle security layer that has a medium trusted level. The separation from Middleware logic and business logic / data takes place inside the Backend layer. The Backend layer provides the Middleware logic to maintain the user sessions and to translate these into transactions towards the business logic and to retrieve the necessary data via the Frontend proxies from external Backbends. The ODI and the RPAS solution have two separated back end layers.

The Secure Backend layer is the security layer that has the highest trusted level. This layer is designed to perform the business logic transactions / analysis tasks and to permanently store the data used for these tasks (as required by the data classification). The Secure Backend layer is divided from the Backend layer by using a Firewall. With this design it is ensured that the Secure Backend layer is not accessible from insecure networks and this layer is not able to access to insecure networks. ODI has its database in this layer and RPAS has its RPAS server.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As a team lead, understanding the client requirements through interacting directly with the client and the business.

Addressing with the production issues and giving solutions immediately.

Handling with high demands of hot fixes.

Have taken up change requests in addition to production support and delivered in planned time.

Involved in deployment support of the project in each release.

Handled java section single handedly for the complete project

Co-ordinate with team members and ensured on time quality delivery of the releases planned.

Guiding the junior team members in developing their technical skills.

Involved in the quality activities like WPI, SCM, PCI, Metrics preparations.

Project Name

: Ricoh – B2B eCommerce

Role

: Technology Analyst

Environment

: Offshore

Duration

: Feb 2014 to till date

A subsystem of this application is BCC(Business Control Centre) which is a browser-based interface that use to create and edit many of the elements required to set up and maintain ATG-based Web sites.

The activities performed in the Business Control Center are divided into two general areas:

• ATG Content Administration activities - The Business Control Center is the primary interface for performing ATG

Content Administration tasks, including the creation and deployment of Web site content.

• ATG Personalization activities - Business Control Center used to create and manage the components

that are responsible for delivering personalized Web site content (content that changes dynamically for each

site visitor). These components include user profiles, organizations, roles, user segments, content targeters, and content groups.

Architecture

The architecture focuses on Dynamo Application Framework(DAF). DAF runs on top of application server and supplies essential facilities for application development and deployment viz. nucleus, repositories, tag libraries, droplets and formhandlers. Nucleus is the central registry for the Java Beans that contain application level logic. The presentation layer is handled by DSP – Tag libraries. DAF also includes a core tag library that provide generic tags for flow control, manipulating data and handling transaction. Form handlers are specialized nucleus components that can be embedded in our JSP’s to do form validation and based on the result, perform actions like inserting into database, forwarding to other JSP page, etc..
