● 07/2005 – Present Principal analog design engineer Portable audio & power management ICs (0.25μm / 0.18μm CMOS) ON Semiconductor, Toulouse (France)

A 4V-24V, 10W, divide-by-2 charge pump in BCD technology. All-NMOS power switch design with bootstrap, 95% efficiency and selectable 100mΩ pass-through mode.

A 4V-10V, 14W, divide-by-2 charge pump in high voltage CMOS. All-NMOS power switch design using a bootstrap circuit requiring no Schottky diode, featuring automatic frequency adjustment for optimum efficiency over a wide range of load currents.

Several precision current sensing circuits designed for 10mΩ sensing resistor values, all based on the autozero principle ("ping-pong", interleaving or track-&-hold) applied to battery charger ICs, "fuel gauge" or DC-DC conversion circuits and with gain trim. US patent 8,570,095 for autozero active load.

– NCP2991 : A 1.2W class AB bridge audio amplifier with 8Ω driving capability, short (30ms) turn-on time and high PSRR. Features novel pop-and-click suppression mechanism (US patent # 7,915,953) and is compatible with both single-ended & differential inputs. Also a fully differential version of the same circuit. 1

– NCP2817 : A true-ground class AB audio amplifier for headsets with integrated charge pump, for battery voltages from 1.6V to 5V. Offers enhanced pop suppression, low quiescent current (1.6mA) and high PSRR

(100dB).

– NCS2632 : A true-ground class AB audio line driver with integrated charge pump (for set-top boxes, Notebook PCs, DVD players Drives up to 3Vrms into 600Ω with no pop-and-click and has auto- calibrated offset. THD+N < 1m% typ, supply voltage range 2.2V to 5.5V. Also features high PSRR (90dB)

& crosstalk (110dB), with integrated 8kV IEC protection (contact discharge).

– Other blocks / functions : a class G audio amplifier, a 4th order modulator for a 16 bit audio ADC, a high PSRR bandgap reference, a 400mA LDO, ... a 2-pin only bidirectional digital interface for EPROM, allowing programming, configuring and testing of an IC via two fully multiplexed I/O pins.

– A 5V very low output voltage linear FET controller, with a 1% output accuracy over temperature, very fast transient response, and able to drive an N-channel power FET for up to 5A load currents. Compatible with all ceramic capacitors, also features power good monitoring, user selectable dropout voltage and undervoltage / overcurrent protection of its output.

– A CPU temperature and power monitoring chip, able to sense and convert into digital the supply voltage and current of a processor, as well as local and remote temperatures, with computation of a moving average of power consumption. Based on a converter design, programmable through a 2-wire SMBus interface with trimmable functions for offset and gain calibration. Design includes complete analog layout, as well as development of GUI and test routines using Perl-Tk & GnuPlot for pc-based control of bench test.

– A 9-bit second-order modulator used as the front-end of a MEMS capacitive sensor-based accelerometer, for patient activity and position monitoring. Typical consumption : 100nA. Designed in 2

several versions for 3 different technologies (from 0.8 m to 0.25 m), accurately simulated with MATLAB and verified with Cadence’s Analog Artist / SPECTRE. Full switched-capacitor design, switching performed at 2kHz for a 30Hz signal bandwidth. Also includes offset and gain calibration circuitry and procedure in software.

– A high linearity VCO with an input dynamic range of 100 V to 50mV. Maximum offset : 100 V. Consumption : 100nA (Switched-capacitor design clocked at 2kHz).

– A generator of bandgap and regulated supplies for a pacemaker / defibrillator system. Includes own clock generator, calibration circuitry, fault detection, Power-On-Reset, high-drive class AB output buffers. Most functions switched-capacitor based. Consumption : 300nA for a maximum 500 A load.

– Modifications / redesigns of other circuits (a GMR sensor circuit, some oscillators).

A multichannel MR read preamplifier and thin-film write circuit for hard-disk drives. 110MHz bandwidth

(37 MR resistance) and 0.8nV/ Hz total input-referred voltage noise. Short (< 1 s) write-to-read recovery time, digitally programmable gain, several fault detections. Also redesigned with modified architecture and performance (220MHz bandwidth, 0.65nV/ Hz voltage noise for a 25 MR sensor value, and other features).

– An adaptive cable equalizer able to reconstruct serial digital video data from a 0 to 300m long cable with less than 300ps residual jitter, for data rates up to 360Mb/sec. – A 10-bit serial digital video encoder performing the functions of parallel-to-serial conversion, scrambling, NRZ-to-NRZI conversion and sync detection. Design completed to the point of PLL analysis and verification with a time-step simulator written in C.
