Employment

October 2003 – Present, Morgan Stanley

Project manager and server side developer on Financial Regulatory team that creates a single platform for capital charge results and Fed disclosure reporting including 10Q, Net Capital, Basel II, Basel I, CSE, Fed TIC, and 009 solutions for New York and London financial controllers groups. The framework uses Ab Initio, Sybase, shell scripts and perl to provide end-to-end solutions processing real time risked based feeds and execute user initiated calculations against a C# GUI front end and Finarch/Axiom reporting system.

Vice President (New York, NY)

Primary task is to manage the expectations of 120 worldwide global controllers reporting the 10Q, 10K, and U.K. GAAP reports. I accomplish this by meeting with the various client and stakeholders on a regular basis to manage and maintain priorities, understand and create the business requirements, review on-going issues, coordinate UAT testing cycles, manage problem trackers, and review budget concerns. I also maintain status reports, project plans, test plans, and project requirements that track the progress of all our on-going projects.

Manage a team of ten developers tasked with various application development tasks for a combination of a home grown calculation and reporting engine and vendor products such as IBM Cognos CDM. Ensure the SDLC is followed by creating technical documentation, review system test plans, perform code reviews, and meet with support teams to ensure the development expectations are met.

Worked with clients to understand and create management of Fed cross-country reports including the monthly, quarterly, and yearly suite of Fed TIC, 009, and 2436 reports for financial controller groups. The results allow the clients to automatically concatenate multiple data sources into a single report view, verify results, perform data analysis, and send reports to the Fed.

Technical project lead for market risk calculator that was necessary to secure India primary dealership license, allowing Morgan Stanley to participate in government bond auctions. The work involved coordination of the upstream data providers and four off-shore team members to integrate the calculator in the existing regulatory application, developing in a very short timeframe. The implementation was extended for a similar approach for Australian controllers.

Lead the development of an in-house DB2/MS OLAP analytical reporting cube used for legal entity controller reporting and OTC and listed derivative variance analysis that allows for top-down and bottom up analysis.

Oversee infrastructure teams that deal with day-to-day database performance issues, an implementation of a database and NFS archival system, an in-house scheduling system, and all existing and legacy mainframe program, JCL, and datasets used by Net Capital, Fed TIC, and Customer Reserve processes that produce On-demand reports for worldwide reporting financial controllers.

Created full Ab Initio solution for original initial individual investor net capital filing which included creating Ab Initio projects, developing shell script environment, creating multifile directories and full directory structure, archiving of log file using shell scripts, and bcp failover solution using Ab Initio host alias files. Developed Ab Initio graphs to validate, cleanse and load data initiated from Autosys, created rules based framework to categorize data based on user generated rules, coded calculations to derive values for regulatory filings using cooperating system version 2.13.1 and GDE 1.13.28 against Sybase 12.5. Later upgraded the system to Ab Initio v2.15.11.

December 2002-September 2003, Fannie Mae (contractor)

Developer on the Interfaces team of the CORE project to overhaul 38 main Fannie Mae loan, servicer, and report infrastructure legacy systems with feeds and outputs to both internal Fannie Mae systems and outside vendors from mainframe systems in a combination of Ab-Initio, XML, and JAVA.

Interfaces Developer (Herdon, VA)

Designed and coded several different interfaces that extract and insert millions of records from Oracle databases, Sybase databases, ASCII text files, and mainframe files containing packet, loan, party and security level information from internal and external sources using Ab-Initio components and the EME repository on a UNIX platform.

August 2002 – December 2002, America Online (contractor)

Contractor for a datawarehousing QA team for Newton billing process that was formerly written in Perl and was upgraded to Ab-Initio. The daily process captures Oracle and Sybase source data two different systems for loading into a Redbrick Datawarehousing system. The system creates a daily report on customer registrations and cancellations for the executive officers.

Data warehousing Programming (Dulles, VA)

Created and documented reusable tools for regression, scenario, data conversion, and source to target data comparisons of the billing data warehousing application incorporating a combination of Ab-Initio and SQL on AIX and Sun Solaris systems using Oracle and Tandem source databases and a Redbrick Datawarehouse.

March 2001 – July 2002, Doubleclick, Inc.

Led a group engaged in a backend event systems team for DART, an on-line advertisement server product. Clients use information from daily impression and click aggregation to identify which on-line advertisements to serve, the advertisements that are most effective and the specific audience to target.

Lead Engineer (New York, NY)

Developed and supported a continuus 24 by 7 batch production application that aggregates, transforms, and publishes the results of approximately 2.2 billion (250 Gb) daily events coded in a combination of C++, hand-coded and generated Ab-Initio graphs, Perl, and shell scripts that are launched through dynamic multi-threaded Appworx scheduler jobs on Sun Solaris. The system is published daily to over 80 table Oracle database system on multiple instances using a combination of Perl scripts and Oracle procedure and function calls.

August 1996 – March 2001, American Management Systems, Inc.

Main responsibilities included developing and designing various components and interfaces based using several design patterns for a Customer Care and Management HP-UX server application using HP C++, RogueWave Tools, and RogueWave DbTools classes performing against an Oracle SQL and Pro*C database system with an Orbix CORBA interface.

Developed a command based architected common application interface between XML data files and UNIX application servers using C++ and Apache XML parser, to enter data through multiple external front ends.

Directed and implemented a German language compliant ad-hoc Customer Search Engine in HP C++ created via dynamic SQL and imbedded Pro*C in conjunction with Oracle DB views and triggers. The engine was the entry point for the Customer Care and Management system used by all client sites, which retrieves customer information depending on various input possibilities.

Maintained and coded the PVCS Configuration Builder production build scripts for HP-UX, Sun Solaris, and Windows NT platforms, used for compilation and linking of the source code baseline and delivery builds. Supported the entire multi-site development environment effort in compilation of all source code, build script control, version control maintenance, regression testing, and third party tool support, and software and makefile environment upgrades.
