Heating and Cooling Load estimates with Revit, Trace, HAP etc.

2012 – 2013 – RANDSTAD ENGINEERING – Project Manager:

Managed a multi-million dollar Test Facility for Access Energy (a division of Calnetix Technologies). The project utilizes thermal energy sources transferring heat to ORC fluid for low level conversion of heat to electric power in high speed turbo generator used in commercial buildings, campuses and various industrial facilities. Responsibilities included:

Process and utilities systems - lead engineering including equipment configurations for various turbo generator modules, heat exchanger systems, steam plant, cooling and condensing systems and refrigerant receiving, storage and recovery system.

Major equipment and components procurement.

Overall systems integration to meet design requirements.

Plant layout and 3-D model development to suit the confines of restrictive boundaries.

Project cost estimates, schedule development and materials tracking.

Contracts, construction management and construction quality control to mechanical completion.

Commissioning, start up - day to day progress tracking and trouble shooting.

Maintenance & Spare parts program set up and Turnover Package.

The Test Facility installation is complete and a successful startup has been accomplished.

2010 – 2012 – SOLAR MILLENNIUM – Project Engineering Manager:

EPCM department - Managed the following major tasks of Blythe Solar Power Project CSP (and PV alternate) including optimization with hybrid gas fired Combined Cycle unit:

Gated project development – Cycle Analysis, Feasibility Studies, FEED, Budget Development and Permitting.

Project Execution Plan, Multi-discipline EPC Contractor Scope and Detail Design Basis.

Directing conceptual design, EPC contractor liaison, document review, RFQ development and major equipment and systems procurement support. Tracking cost and expenditures with budget and reporting progress on a weekly basis.

Scoping studies, equipment and system selection. System optimization/modelling using Life Cycle Analysis or, Criteria selected per design basis. Open book project definitive cost estimate. Support for Regulatory and Funding activities included: Independent Engineer's report required for DOE and Equity Investors, Lead role in CBO, CEC and OSHA coordination for major areas such as overall plant design, Permitting and compliance support. Design and Engineering activities of the team engaged in integration of solar field systems with the power block included: Insuring that Contractor design, specification, data sheets comply with scope, design basis and regulatory requirements, best industry practice and constructability issues while meeting the project schedule. Construction, Commissioning, Operation and Performance Testing support activities included: Construction Quality Control, Performance Acceptance Test Procedure development, Underwriter liaison, O&M manual and Spare Parts Criteria development.

2008 – 2009 – WORLEY PARSONS – Project Engineer:

Cycle performance analysis, Systems, PFD and P&ID development, major equipment specifications, contract packaging, bid evaluation for gas turbine, selective catalytic reduction system and BOP systems - cooling, demineralization, fuel gas, related piping above ground and underground, waste water system, tanks, fire protection, insulation, corrosion control and key drawings for engineering, procurement and construction of power plants. Design team management. List of projects:

Owner engineering for Los Angeles Department of Water and Power – 600 MW power project using GE LMS100. utilizing Title 22 reclaimed water as influent to the proposed demineralization facility.

Repowering a 300 MW combined cycle plant utilizing an existing concrete stack at LADWP.

MMC - Escondido and Chula Vista projects using GE LMS 6000 Gas Turbine simple cycle units.

CPS Braunig, San Antonio using four GE LMS 6000 units including engineering and procurement of the Demineralization plant bringing savings of close to $400K.

2000 – 2007 – Contract Project Engineering for the Healthcare/Biotech Industry (with Versa, Eichleay/Spectrum, TRS, ESI):

Contract package development, bidding and evaluation for a Waste Segregation project at Genentech Inc. Vacaville.

Project engineering and construction through commissioning and product release using CCRs for Capital and Facilities improvement/repair and maintenance/annual shut down of HVAC Cleanroom, Mechanical Room, Purified water and Waste water projects in process and utility areas at Novartis/Chiron facilities of Emeryville and Vacaville.

HVAC and utility central plant projects at Genentech facility in Porino, Spain.

Central Plant expansion including a new CC plant for Amgen.

Steam Plant for Dow Chemical.

1995 – 2000 – BLACK & VEATCH - Lead Mechanical Engineering for the Semiconductor and Healthcare Industries:

Lockheed - Engineering, Construction and Start up support for 200,000 SF expansion of an existing LMMS building for creating a mission critical Commercial Satellite Production Facility. Mechanical engineering included HVAC for the entire facility including Data Center, Class 1000 Cleanroom, LN2 Storage and distribution, Vacuum and Utilities Plants.

IBM, Intel, Cannon, Sumitomo – Data Centers, Plant expansion including distribution piping for Process and Utility plants - Cooling Towers, Steam and Hot Water Boilers, various Class 10 through class 10,000 Cleanrooms (Federal Standard 209) & High Purity Gases.

U.S. Filter - High Purity Water Treatment plant installation and modification.

Engineering, Construction and start up support for the Boiler Plant, Chilled Water Plant, Steam distribution, Condensate collection, Air Distribution & Handling system at Bio-Marin Pharmaceuticals.

Previous Major experience with Bechtel included cogeneration/CHP projects for PG&E, FMC, P&G, Eastman, Nabisco and MEP for airports.
