B/E Aerospace – Rockford, IL 2012 to 2015
A provider of toilet and waste systems for the commercial and business jet industries.
Hardware Design Engineer
Responsible for hardware design of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) including specifications, layout guidelines, signal integrity and timing analysis, component selection, debug, testing, design verification, and system validation. Worked extensively with suppliers on designs that were initially designed out- of- house.
Designs typically used Microchip PIC microcontrollers
Worked closely with CCA assembly house to secure parts for prototype and production builds
Provided extensive input for PCB and assembly notes
GE HEALTHCARE – LUNAR, Madison WI 2002 to 2012
A provider of X-ray based diagnostic systems to the medical community.
Hardware Design Engineer
Responsible for hardware design of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) including specifications, schematic capture, layout guidelines, signal integrity and timing analysis, component selection, debug, testing, design verification, and system validation. Worked extensively with suppliers to secure documentation to provide evidence of compliance to RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) requirements.
Designed main processor CCA, used to capture and process x-ray data for high-end bone densitometer system, using Freescale 8052 Coldfire processor
Used OrCad software tool set to develop circuit board assemblies for several bone densitometer systems and worked closely with board layout personnel to provide layout guidelines
Worked closely with CCA assembly house to secure parts for prototype and production builds
Participated in cross-functional teams to manage new product development processes through production
Generated theory-of-operation documents to detail CCA operation
ARTESYN COMMUNICATION PRODUCTS, INC., Madison, WI 1999 to 2002
A provider of standard and custom products to the telecommunications industry.
Hardware Design Engineer
Responsible for hardware design of standard processor modules and custom products (primarily used in the telecommunications industry) including component selection, schematic capture, layout guidelines, signal integrity and timing analysis, debug, testing, and verification of design.
Designed PMC processor module that was well received by telecommunication customers
Used Innoveda (Viewlogic) software tool set to develop circuit board assemblies for a major telecommunications industry supplier
Worked closely with purchasing and component vendors to secure parts and participated in cross-functional teams to manage new product development processes through production
Coordinated product development with manufacturing and manufacturing test departments to facilitate assembly and testing of products. Met production requirements and performance for end functional and in-circuit testing of new products
Contributed to and reviewed operators (user’s) manuals for modules and assemblies
MARQUIP, INC., Madison, WI 1994 to 1999
A privately held corporation manufacturing machines for the corrugated and dry-end paper industries.
Hardware Design Engineer
Responsible for design and test of hardware and software for various circuit board assemblies.
