MINI PROJECT : DESIGN OF AC/DC VOLTAGE REGULATOR USING SCR

Regulators powered from AC power circuits can use silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs) as the series device. Whenever the output voltage is below the desired value, the SCR is triggered, allowing electricity to flow into the load until the AC mains voltage passes through zero (ending the half cycle). SCR regulators have the advantages of being both very efficient and very simple.

Applications of this type of voltage regulator are light controls,speed controls,polyphase controls,induction motors and AC magnet controls for power transfer.

U.G PROJECT : ENHANCEMENT AND OBJECT SEGMENTATION OF FLS

IMAGES USING GABOR WAVELET TRANSFORM

Autonomous Benthic Explorers or AUV are generally depending upon Forward Looking SONAR (FLS) information to detect obstacles in front of the vehicle. The amplitude of the echoed signal sensed by hydrophones is used to detect the presence of obstacles. But acoustic signal loses its energy primarily due to transmission loss, absorption and scattering. Due to this, water column image of SONAR is of low contrast and noisy. So, an effective preprocessing technique must be employed. This process is concerned with de-noising and contrast enhancement of the FLS image to enhance the detection of obstacles.
