Director of Purchasing and Outside Contract Manufacturing (Contract to hire- Interim Position)

Hired to develop and implement a supplier base local to Southern California, Nevada, Arizona and Northern Baja California Mexico. Develop Purchasing control drawing to be used with the supply base that conforms to FDA traceability, materials pedigree requirements, validate Good Manufacturing Practices are in place and conform to product requirements. Develop ERP/MPS requirements for forecasted demands 6 to 12 months and implement daily, weekly and monthly validation of forecast and adjust purchase orders as required. Create supplier OTD reporting systems, Quality first acceptance reporting system, and cost improvement and consignment inventory plans.

CORPORATE SENIOR GLOBAL COMMODITY MANAGER

Deutsch Connector manufacture specialty connectors used in Automotive, Industrial, Commercial, and Aerospace/Aviation sectors. I Managed $250 million annual spend for DEUTSCH Corporate in Metals, Plating, Stamping, Screw Machining, and Resin. Successfully managed multiple contracts and agreements with key global suppliers and reached 3% to 6% multi-year savings. Effectively kept specialty machining center operating when sole source supplier went into bankruptcy protection in Switzerland by utilizing legal and finance groups in Europe to minimize our outage risk.

Developed and implemented annual 5% saving programs for Plating, Custom Machining, Injection Molding and Precision Stamping, indirect supporting purchases (MRO), and Travel & Entertainment.

Extensive Commodity Contract Negotiated Resin, Metals, Contract Services and avoided price increases by consolidation of small volume commodities to existing contracted suppliers.

AB is major retail and back room food processing equipment manufacturer controlling 70% of UK, France, Middle East, and African markets in retail applications, portion control processing and self-service applications. I established the Chinese business operations unit in conformance to the approved plan developed by AB executive Management group. I Obtained Chinese Government License, leased site, recruited and trained staff, and managed initial $30-M USD annual spend to $200-M spend annual when I depart for all direct commodities to produce final products to be sold by AB worldwide sales network.

I effectively lead the cost-reduction for transferred legacy products through redesign, right-sourcing and assembly & Test up to 60% before taxes and shipment cost (as validated by cost accounting).

I Achieved new product release ahead of schedule by almost 3 months by utilizing reward & perish programs and owning design responsibilities once product was transferred to China.

I managed and directed the QA team S.W.O.T analysis to find solutions for our customer issues and created benchmarking, and dashboard measurements.

I began by developing and successfully implemented a Lean Manufacturing Team and a new Quality Improvement team to take full ownership of our customer issues. I effectively conducted product rationalization plans for legacy products to be made overseas. Implemented Lean processes for in-house Service Repair, Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing, Purchasing, Quality assurance, and Final Assembly, test and Custom configurations group for High Profit Models an Options Sales.

Wrote first draft of company-wide procedural program for ISO-9001/QS9001/TS16494 requirements by auditing each department and creating work flow charts. Primary author on final company Global-wide procedures to assure consistency in processes to documentation.
