Worked on the Design, Development and Maintenance of an Enterprise Wide Data Warehouse using 3NF and Boyce-Codd, maintaining both Sales and Service Delivery Operational Stores.

Developed several Data Marts from the Operational Stores using the Kimball Framework and for the purpose of Reporting and Self-Service via the deployment of OLAP cubes.

Liaised with Business Representatives, Data Consumers, Business Analysts, Developers, and Architects to ensure all requirements were within scope of the Data Warehouse Project and the wider RAC Information Management Strategy.

Middle Office Risk Team, RBS Group Plc (London City)

Agile Reporting, Data Analysis, and Application Development within a Middle Office Risk & Control Team. Responsible for the provision of BI and application Development across global desk analysts and for management, as well as for external Regulatory and Benchmark submissions to ISDA, FED, the FCA, and Market Watch.

Developed an in-house FIX Message DataMart, translating FIX Messages in near real-time, which allowed downstream analysis and reporting. The DataMart was developed and used across Europe, Asian, and North America Middle Office Team and integrated with a Risk Scoring Platform for use by Front Office Analysts.

Managed a program of work to the reverse engineering of several high risk and business critical VBA centric solutions, written in MS Excel and MS Access, in addition to harmonising several desperate SQL platforms onto the Microsoft Stack.

The ETL and Workflow Management aspect of this role was performed, using SSIS, and involved dealing with data from multiple platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, Web Services, and multiple flat files formats. The scheduling of tasks was done using SQL Server Agent and a similar tool, called AutoSys.

Data delivery included the deployment of traditional reporting in Reporting Service (SSRS), OLAP Cubes for Self-Service, Dashboards using Tibco Spotfire and files to FTP/SharePoint Locations in Excel, Flat File, and XML format.

Finally, MS Access and InfoPath, coupled with SharePoint and SQL Server backend, were utilized for the agile development and deployment of several solutions for data entry into a transactional (normalised) database.

Lloyds Banking Group Plc (London City)

Agile System Development and Report Writing for one of the UK’s largest Branch Integration Programmes of Work. Working alongside certified accountants, the position involved being the lead developer, responsible for creating a platform to allow reconciliation of large volume P&L Balances post system’s migration. Resolution of any differences required working with an off-shore team, based in India.

The systems development work primarily involved using MS SQL Server 2008 and Integration Services (SSIS). Source data was being analysed from multiple systems, including TeraData, MS SQL, Oracle, and flat file extracts from AutoRec.

Presentation of data was performed using MS Excel and SSRS, with stakeholders accessing reports online and via scheduled emai ls.

The role also required some database administration (DBA) responsibilities, including setup/management of Scheduling Backups, Indexing, Updating Statistics, User Permission, and so forth within the MS 2008 environment. Field consultant role involved the deployment of an Accounting and Finance System at client sites, requiring travel across the UK

Work on-site typically involved dealing with the organisation’s Head of Finance, setting pre-migration and post-migration milestones.

Data cleansing and migration onto SQL undertaken using Data Transformation Services (DTS), SQL Management Studio, and MS Access.

Small business venture geared to provide Data Analysis and Consultancy Services to Sales Executives within large Telco Companies.

The service offering was to take receipt of Telecom’s Data from a Corporate Prospect, to analyse this, and to provide ‘Benchmark’ reports.

Development was done using DTS, SQL 2000/05 as the underlying database, and SAP Crystal Reports to produce the large majority of MI.

The service offering involved attending client meetings to present findings and assisting Sales Executives to secure new business.

HBOS Group Plc – Chester (Chester)

Responsible for Project Management, Business Analysis, and Systems Development during MG Rover’s period of insolvency. At the time, this was a very commercially sensitive project that required working closely with the auditors PWC and staff at the Long Bridge MG Plant.

Project managed numerous data and system related issues, following a Windows Operating System migration programme, involving circa 300 personnel located across 3 regional sites – Edinburgh, Chester, and London. IT Operations Manager OCT 2001 – MAY 2005
