I am writing you in regard to the Biological Science Technician position listed on usajobs.com I am excited to see the opening because I will be graduating from Ferris State University this December with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Biology.
My main interest of study at FSU has been in ecology, environment, and plants. The Ecological Assessment class I took covered areas of forestry and included writing an assessment of a local lake in Mecosta County. The premise of the paper and study was to determine the trophic status of the lake because of herbicide treatments for the invasive Eurasian milfoil. We also studied forestry techniques and stream flow techniques. I have also had classes in advanced plant physiology, and a plants and fungi course. I took a number of classes in secondary education and understand creation and implementation of lesson plans.
My last employment was at Country Dairy Farm in New Era, MI and understand many aspects of dairy farming including crop management, cow genetics, milk production, milk processing, cheese, and ice cream. I also spent 16 years in the United States Naval Reserve giving me experience in leadership. I have learned discipline to complete a job on my own and as a team. I have experience with finances as a church finance secretary and am familiar with budgets, Microsoft Excel, and Quicken. I also understand working with deadlines, and the need for precision work from working as a pharmacy technician at Meijer Inc. for 13 years.
