Truck Freight International 2014-August 2016

Administrations Manager

Responsible for all training of drivers and new employees with ISO, C-TPAT, MPI Requirements; and maintaining all files to make sure that we are compliant with all internal and external auditors.

Responsible for all administration processes from start to finish.

Currently managing a group of five administration clerks, four planners, and 53 drivers.

Trained all drivers and staff with TDG, ISO, C-TPAT and making sure that they are compliant with other customers and internal organizations.

Work closely with the general manager to ensure that fleet is running properly and at the most cost effective means.

Manage all internal and external audits with ISO, C-TPAT, DOT and MPI.

Work closely with staff and providing weekly revenue reports on how each driver is doing. This ensures that each planner can work closely or look at different avenues when planning the drivers. I also provide the revenue report to the director and President of the company. This will allow us to utilize the slow seasons with other work or contacting other customers to move product.

Provide memos to drivers for log book audits, customer non-compliances, driving issues, rejected loads, etc. first by a written notice and then a verbal or in the office meeting. Provide all drivers with first hand training on how to properly fill in the paperwork (example bill of ladings, log books, trip reports, expenses, and many more)

Provide the general manager and the director projections on how each unit is currently running and determining which units we will keep or lease again if necessary. Renew all tractors and trailers yearly with MPI for both Truck Freight International and Haztran Corp.

Work closely with internal lawyers, directors, and other managers in the company along with current staff.

Arrange vehicle repairs and maintenance and book regular oil changes, and safeties for both the truck and trailer.

Logistics Manager / Purchasing 2008-2014

Managed and maintained all freight movement from China to both Canada and the USA. Also hired and negotiated rates with all carriers for inbound and outbound movement in both Canada and the USA, saving the company close to two million dollars in freight.

Responsible for purchasing approximately 400 items for our third-party warehouse in Minneapolis, USA.

Deal with our suppliers overseas helping with bill of ladings and arranging to have a contract with the supplier and our freight forwarder.

Arrange all telex transfers for our suppliers four days after shipping overseas once bill of lading is presented for payment.

During our year end, I arrange to go to Minneapolis to overlook our inventory and advise how to deal with product that we can no longer sell due to packaging issues or defective product. Arrange to have hazardous product picked up and destroyed properly.

Enter all ISF’s (Importer Securing Filing) into the system for all loads coming from overseas to the USA 72 hours prior to shipping.

Negotiate with all carriers once a year and setting rates in place for all movements.

Earned the train the trainer in dangerous goods, which allows me to teach the course to everyone at work. Trained all the shippers and receivers and am now working on training the customer service reps.

Arrange all custom documents for all shipments going into the USA or coming out of the USA to Canada.

Deal with all FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) products.

Manage and Maintain all product costing on an excel spreadsheet, so that our sales reps can maintain the price list for the next year.

Work closely with other staff for issues that arise with carriers, regulations or approving invoices for payment.

Agricore United (Viterra)

Trucking Coordinator 2003 – 2008

Management of inbound traffic in Northern and Southern Alberta including negotiating freight costs and deliveries, organization and coordination of truck shipments.

Moved all fertilizer from Northern and Southern Alberta in a timely fashion to meet deadlines. Was responsible for 78 CPC sites, and over 100 stations.

Arranged the movement of Potash, Phosphate, Urea, Super Salt, Granular, blends and direct to farm movement, along with the movement of grain which consisted of barley, wheat, nexera canola, corn, and all seed (mustard, waxy barley, etc…)

During a two day intensive period (Saturday and Sunday) moved 4500 tones – which is equivalent to 100 loads due to a price increase. Managed to move over 125 loads in my territories, which saved the company over a million dollars.

Remained with company during transition of Agricore United with Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. Worked closely with the Regina Trucking department giving them information regarding our stations, carriers and rates. Also worked closely in transitioning files from our system to their system.

Agricore United (Viterra) 2000-2003

Assistant Trucking Coordinator

Updated all information for Saskatchewan Workers Compensation. I supplied them with a monthly total of all movement from each carrier delivering into or out of Saskatchewan.

Contacted carriers and stations regarding carrier compliance to meet insurance qualifications.

Worked closely with the country staff, carriers and internal staff, to help the computer department create the help topics in our internal computer system (FMS). This resulted in time savings regarding IT contact.

Traveled to Saskatoon to conduct a presentation on the new help topics that were created, along with information on the importance of using a carrier that is compliant. This increased access, user knowledge and expertise.

Inputted all the information in our system for loads that were booked by the trucking coordinator. Worked closely with all the trucking coordinators, to become familiar with movement in all three provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta). Also managed all of the custom paperwork for external movement into the U.S.A.
