Responsible for all aspects of Saks direct website databases, including maintenance of processes involved in updating the data warehouse, and consulting on processes running on the retail web site database. Tools used include TOAD, UNIX with shell scripts, SSAS, SSIS, Oracle Data integrator,Cognos & Teradata.

Designed Data models for BI conforming to Kimball star schema methodology, and wrote and built the ETL processes to populate the schemas using pl/sql and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). Adapted data models to allow for Omni Channel

Initiatives, allowing for reporting on ‘ship from store’ as well as Internet orders.

Built Cognos frameworks for reporting, and Sql Server Analysis services cubes for ad-hoc analysis. Along with the new data schemas this transformed reporting for the business, who had been used to reports taking hours to run against a poorly designed 'reporting' database, and now had reports coming back in seconds, and true analytic capability with Excel pivot tables connecting directly to SSAS cubes, with calculated MDX measures. Cubes auto- populated with SSIS Packages.

Played a large part in transforming the scalability of the web site data operations. Major achievement was to convert the product array data operation from sql server 2000 to Oracle. Converted to Oracle a database which was in sql server and updated via ms Access and was a major bottleneck in getting new product on to the web site.

Converted other database processes from Sql Server to Oracle for the staging database for Blue Martini, enabling a needed upgrade of the Blue Martini software.

Worked on data extract process for web site search engine. Cut the processing time from 8 hours to 1, enabling Saks to break sales more rapidly in response to retail competitors.

Worked on switching all ETL processes involved with the web site to source new data servers.
