Interpreting analysis reports and calculating sulfur/blend content to monitor the safe burning of waste oil in the incinerator.

Ensuring that hazardous waste, recyclable materials, plastic, and prohibited items are separated before burning.

Using a Drager MSI gas emissions analyzer to monitor NOx, O2, CO, NO, and CO2 emissions from numerous generators.

Conducting monitoring and recording of selective catalytic reductions systems operating parameters (urea, temperature).

Assisting engineers in performing corrective actions if the NOx emissions from SCR’s are too high to prevent air pollution.

Conducting monthly visual inspections for fugitive dust and smoke while performing industrial activities.

Overseeing open burning and industrial waste incineration of municipal solids waste, processing trash, rotary screened solids, pressed sludge and sanitary solids from the water treatment plant.

Non-compliance reporting to state and federal agencies when a non-compliance test result occurs with the facility stormwater permit, wastewater permit, drinking water permit, and air quality permit. Reporting hazardous oil and substance spills to the EPA, SPAR, National Response Center, Coast Guard and ADEC.

Managing and ensuring compliance with the facility Hazardous Waste Program.

Assisting the Chief Engineer in developing the Tier II Chemical Report.

Performing weekly inspections of areas where hazardous, solid, and universal wastes are stored and accumulated.

Tracking the inventory of hazardous, solid, and universal wastes on site to ensure that the facility stays within the designated hazardous waste generator status and DOT compliance. Performing weekly hazardous waste inspections.

Reviewing hazardous wastes manifests and shipments ensuring that hazardous waste is properly identified and labeled before shipping. Familiar with RCRA hazardous waste regulations.

FISHERIES AND WILDLIFE BIOLOGY EXPERIENCE:

Experience working with various fish species throughout Washington, California, and Alaska. Thorough understanding of the dynamics incorporated with life cycle processes and ideal habitat. Identifying sex and species for both juvenile and adults.

Using dichotomous and taxonomic keys for fish identification in the field. Including types of rockfish, bottom fish, and various types of salmon in both their ocean and spawning phase. Experience identifying steelhead and other types of trout and amphibians in the Pacific Northwest.

Collecting scales, otoliths, and DNA tissue samples from various fish species while in the field and in a hatchery setting.

Data collection in the field while working alone in remote areas or in a group. Entering data into various database management systems.

Strategically communicating with fisherman in effort to sample their daily catch for Creel Surveys. Developing positive relationships between the fisherman and the Department of Fish and Wildlife, ensuring trust, and informing them of the rules and fishing regulations of the area they were fishing in.

Working in a tagging trailer installing coded wires and clipping adipose fins in juvenile Chinook salmon and Steelhead.

Working in a salmon hatchery during a spawning season. Adapting to changing protocols for the spawning process.

Experience identifying wild or hatchery origin fish based on adipose fin clips, CWT’s, Pit Tags, opercle punches, and elastomers.

Working with the California Department of Water Resources regulating water usage at the hatchery.

Statistical analysis of data looking for trends.

Removing coded wire tags from salmon snouts while in the field. Decoding coded wire tags with a microscope.

Fish anesthetics for both juvenile and adult fish. Egg collection and shocking in a hatchery to determine their overall embryo health and identify dead eggs. Quality control of juvenile Fall Chinook.

Reading and installing pit tags in juvenile Chinook salmon and Steelhead.

Stream and spawning ground surveys and identifying redds for various fish species in the Pacific Northwest. Including surveys to determine fish passage and presence, and identifying barriers that prevent them from passing.

Experience with GIS, PITAGIS, ArcMAP. Using topographic maps in the field while conducting surveys.

Installing Pit Tag Arrays to collect data on anadromous Steelhead and Chinook to further analyze return rates. Building a weir for an adult Steelhead trap to block the passage of fish so data can be collected.

Electrofishing experience in both small tributaries and large rivers.

Using statistical random sampling while in the field to ensure there would be no bias in the data I was collecting.

Technical Writing experience and making edits and revisions to the annual hatchery report.

Stream typing, fish identification, and measuring bank full dimensions in the field.

Identification of riparian management zones in a forest management setting to help conserve ideal fish and amphibian habitat.

Experience using a GPS, topographic map, compass, clinometer, conductivity meter, Densitometer, microscope, hemostat, and taking various hydrologic measurements.

Knowledge of various game management units and how they differ in population abundance of wildlife. Thorough understanding of wildlife habitat needs of various species in different ecosystem.
