Payroll Tax Accounting: As part of the above transactions, and below positions. I specialize in a number of accounting aspects such as Analytics, GL Mapping & Posting, Positive Pay & Federal and Multi-State Income, Unemployment/FUTA, Local Tax Law, and any tax amendments required to process corrections. This is also applied to City/Municipality/Local Tax Law, School District Taxes, and Transit Tax which may be or are a part of at least 15 states. The most well-known fun states are CA, OH, & PA. A newer quickly growing state is MI. As the economy changes new ones are being added all the time. I have worked with both 3rd party providers, & for complete in-house payroll departments that are responsible for their own tax agency management, reconciliations, deposits, & filings. Both include the tracking of notices, & amendments. In order to do the above I am responsible for knowing and applying Treasury/ACH rules to transactions for banking & jurisdiction tax funding. These tasks include but are not limited to; registration, maintenance, correspondence, discrepancies, updating, depositing, filing, reconciliation, closing, and company and/or EE profile maintenance. In addition to tax reporting and payment. I also work with HR & Accounting to make sure we are compliant with new hire reporting, IRS reporting, Labor reporting, any other reporting needs as mandated by a diverse number or regulating agencies.
Taxable Earnings, and Voluntary Deductions (Benefits): In addition to the statutory taxes above. I am also well versed in Taxable Earning and Voluntary Deductions taxation. These rules are outlined as part of IRS publications. The most popular being that of the Circular E, but other publications such as Fringe Benefits, Café Plans, and HSA plans are additional publications that provide the framework for how we tax both earnings and deduction validation table arrangements accurately for a number of Employee Benefit offerings. As part of my 3rd party service center implementation back ground. I have had the opportunity to understand the direct application and processing expectations of these system validation data tables as applied within company decided Open Enrollment options. Taxation is a very extensive and constantly changing area that I enjoy.
Mergers & Implementation Projects: ADP: Implemented clients onto ADP products from other products. RR Donnelley: Software conversion from ADP enterprise to in-house PeopleSoft (Oracle Database). Exelon: Merger Analysis for pending acquisition of large utility company of 10,000 EE’s. Chicago Symphony Orchestra: Reorganized, and updated payroll and tax compliance documentation, and procedures. During my time with Exelon, I developed the training documentation and processes necessary to evaluate the merging of departments due to coming acquisition of a 10,000+ company. Kenny Construction was purchased by Granite. Department was moved to Watsonville CA. TetraPak – Helped Towers & Watson process a service center efficiency evaluation, and I-9 audit. Drive Automotive – moved payroll position out from under HR, then transition and trained accounting associate. Shift Conversion evaluation by Core Practice LLC and Implementation Project. Schawk was purchased by Matthews International. Once private, now public company. Installation of Sox compliance and the start of merging HR and Payroll functions to PA location during the busy year end season. SIMS – Moved from DT Chicago to West Chicago with the intent of merging SRS (SIMS Recycling Services) in with HR Service Center. Wholesome Harvest was purchased by GrupoBimbo. Duties: My position held 2 primary halves. One half was 3rd level of support of both knowledge and technology based escalated client issues. If tax law was not processing correctly through engine.
