POSITION OBJECTIVES
1.To work as part of a team to provide efficient and effective development, construction and maintenance of the City’s building program.
2.Timely attendance and participation in all classes at an approved Registered Training Organisation to gain Certificate III in Carpentry.
3.Complete all assignments and assessments as identified in course outlines and participate in on-the-job skills development to agreed competency levels identified in course curriculum.

RATING GUIDE for Autonomy and Responsibility:
HIGH Expected to display a high level of self sufficiency and initiative
MEDIUM Required to act under some supervision and direction. Difficult or unusual queries to be referred to supervisor.
LOW Limited. Required to act under close direction and supervision
The position is accountable for:
Under supervision the position is accountable for:
1.Providing a good standard of customer service, including:
Responding to customer enquiries (in the field) in a professional and courteous manner
Adhere to the City of Mandurah customer service standards
Ensuring Team Leader is aware of difficult/sensitive standards

2. Construction and maintenance of Council building assets, including:
Work with Citybuild Team under the direction of the Team Leader in all aspects of building works
-Building alteration, renovation and maintenance of building projects
-Minor building construction projects
-Maintenance, repair and construction of a wide variety of municipal projects including stairs, fencing and buildings
-Operate tools and equipment
-Assist with effective estimating of minor work quantities
-Read construction drawings and specifications
Keep accurate job records
Safely maintain, operate and secure materials, tools and equipment
Working alongside contractors

Qualifications/Training/Experience:
1.Successful completion of Year 10 Certificate or higher with C pass or better in English, Mathematics and Science or equivalent
2.Undertake and complete the apprenticeship requirements to gain a qualification in carpentry and joinery
3.Current unrestricted ‘C’ class national driver’s licence (Desirable)
4.Completion of a pre-apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery (Desirable)
5.Current Senior First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
