Environmental Site Characterization
Supervision of the remediation efforts involving multiple former oil field and refinery sites located in Bakersfield, Brea, Huntington Beach, Fullerton, La Habra, Long Beach, Montebello, El Segundo, Santa Fe Springs, Carson, and Newhall, California. Duties included overseeing investigation, removal, treatment, and disposal programs involving contaminated soil. Other responsibilities included monitoring health and safety and exposure levels for personnel on site, and odor control. Contaminants included lead, arsenic, mercury, barium, crude oil, and various refined compounds including gasoline, mercaptans, and phenols.
Construction Field Management duties during the demolition and remediation of a former Rockwell wind tunnel in El Segundo, Ca. Demolition oversite of United Technology Corporation site in San Jose, Ca. Also managed several pipeline and structural additions to Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bus/Rail yards.
Have extensive experience in both the field during grading activities and in the laboratory analyzing soil properties for several clients located in Fontana, San Bernardino, Lancaster, Pacoima, and Palm Springs, Ca and several other locations. Have knowledge of all techniques of field testing including: Sand Cone, Knocker bar, as well as other testing techniques. Laboratory experience includes compaction, shear, moisture content, and others.
Field manager for several Phase II investigation including but not limited to groundwater monitoring well abandonment and installation, hydropunch sampling, soil-gas survey, explosive gas survey, and soil/groundwater/soil-gas sampling. Performed data analysis for an industrial park constructed above an abandoned municipal landfill in Seattle, Washington involving methane, chlorinated solvent, and petroleum hydrocarbon contamination
Involved with emergency response and hazardous clean up on three projects, they include a jet fuel spill in Ontario, CA, and a oil line spill in Long Beach, CA, and an Explosive event at a site in San Jose, CA. His duties included: characterization and containment of hazardous materials, remediation plans, and clean up and confirmatory sampling coordination. Contaminates of concern included: jet fuels, fuel oils, and ammonium perchlorates.
Participated in characterizing and remediating several other contaminated soil issues, including the removal/closure of underground storage tanks and industrial wastewater clarifiers.
Performed several environmental investigations involving the installation of groundwater monitoring wells, soil borings, vapor probes, hydropunch samplers, and soil/ groundwater/soil-gas sampling and analysis for various contaminants including chlorinated solvents, metals, petroleum hydrocarbons, and PCBs at industrial sites and landfills in several cities in California, Texas, Arizona, and Washington.
Environmental Assessments
Performed several environmental property evaluations in California, Arizona, and Utah for various large clients, including major financial institutions, property developers, and industrial corporations. The sites have included numerous commercial and industrial properties including manufacturing, electronic, and retail operations. Also performed assessments of several residential properties. Investigations included contacting regulatory agencies, researching land development histories, asbestos and PCB investigations, geological data interpretation, aerial photograph interpretation, and soil and groundwater studies.
Hydrogeologic Site Characterization
Senior project manager for a project in the Chino Hills State Park, California, that included monitoring groundwater flow during a two-year period. Monitoring results were correlated with geologic data to determine whether the site geology had a direct relationship to groundwater flow. Supervised the investigation, including soil boring construction and in-situ permeability analysis to determine hydraulic conductivity, and soil/groundwater sampling.
Air Monitoring
Conducted an extensive air monitoring project for the removal of reduced sulfur compounds at a former oil field site in Huntington Beach, California. In addition, was involved in the construction of an SVE system, and installation and operation of several systems on numerous sites in Ontario, Torrance, Huntington Beach, Manhattan Beach, Santa Fe Springs, and additionally, a number of retail Chevron and BP site in Southern California.
