Professional Experience

EDB SERVICES LLC - Brighton, Colorado May 2016- Present

Owner: Engaged in Project Controls Consulting (client confidential)

§Integrated client’s disconnected paper and spreadsheet Project Management systems into a one-stop database application. This included provisions for Project Initiation, Scope Development, Risk Management, Change Management, and a rapidly configurable Work Breakdown Structure. Preliminary tasks, durations, and resource allocations were collected in the DB application and exported to MS Project or other scheduling software in a format that matches the project WBS allowing for rapid project schedule development. The DB included Earned Value Management and reporting with customizable rules of credit and progress input. Change forms were generated and tracked within the DB, and approved changes automatically update the Earned Value Management System.

Rentech, Inc - Denver, Colorado December 2010 – December 2014

Sr. Project Controls Engineer

§Managed cost and scope tracking and reporting for two wood pellet-mill projects located in Canada with a combined budget of $100 million. Scope and cost tracking included change management for both schedule and cost, and re-base lining budget to reflect changes, project progress, and actual spends. Developed Work Breakdown and Cost Breakdown Structures (WBS and CBS). Reporting included Earned Value Management System (EVMS) metrics to Project Management along with actual and committed cost reporting to Corporate Finance. Responsible, for all project related requisitioning, and review of payables with specific emphasis on corporate compliance required of a publically traded company.

This project demonstrated production of Diesel and Jet Fuel by Thermochemical Conversion of Woodwaste at Rentech’s Product Demonstration Unit in Commerce City, Colorado. Responsibilities included monitoring cost and progress to scope of work, monitoring all financial transactions on the project to ensure they were allowable and allocable per government standards, and all project related requisitioning. Ensured that project scope and non-project scope are segregated and coded correctly to ensure adherence with the T&C of the D.O.E assistance agreement. Worked closely with the D.O.E., and their independent reviewers to ensure project invoices were accurate and sufficiently detailed. Provided audit support for multiple audit cycles.

§Primary technical point of contact for customers. Review and interpret customer drawings, quality requirements, specifications, and flow downs for new products to ensure that manufacturing was capable of meeting customer needs. Offer design alternatives to customers when capability doesn’t exist to produce customer designs to print.

§Gather project requirements, advise in materials selection, and develop process flows to best utilize existing manufacturing capabilities while maximizing yields and optimizing costs. Areas of responsibility include process design for thick film metallization of printed circuits, machined ceramics, dry-pressed, extruded, and isostatic formed ceramics.

§Generate 3-D models and concept drawings utilizing Autodesk Inventor for customers, both internal and external, in order to aid in clear communication.

§Rigorous production cost estimation utilizing an approach that included yield and rate information from similar products, as well as consulting individual process experts to comprehend any abnormal process difficulties.

§Audit process and documentation to ensure compliance to TS/ISO requirements.

Aerotek, Contract to Infinite Power Solutions - Littleton, Colorado July 2010 – December 2010

Rapid Thermal Process Engineer

Intel Corporation - Colorado Springs, CO / Hillsboro, OR / Rio Rancho, NM September 2000 – August 2007

Thin Films and Diffusion Process Engineer

§Technical leader of a geographically widely dispersed team of engineers that identified, prioritized, and executed yield and performance critical Rapid Thermal Process (RTP) module improvement projects for all of Intel's production 300mm factories worldwide. The equipment and process projects identified and implemented in this team resulted in yield, throughput, up-time, and operating cost improvements that when taken in aggregate saved in excess of $10 million/year.

§Managed the installation of, qualified, and sustained new and converted 300mm RTP production tools in support of high volume manufacturing.

§Authored equipment source inspection and qualification documentation.

§Drove multiple equipment improvements through engagement of equipment vendors.

§Developed, implemented, and transferred changes to multiple 300mm RTP process monitor, and data collection methodologies resulting in $1 million annual savings in monitoring costs. Standardizing the response to data enabled operators or technicians to make many of the decisions that previously required engineering intervention. These changes also significantly improved process capability, and improved tool up-time by 8%. Yield also improved by more than 5% as a direct result of these improvements.

§Integrated, trained, and mentored several new and experienced engineers into the 300mm RTP module. These engineers became the core team that supports multiple manufacturing sites worldwide.

§Transferred and audited all module process and equipment maintenance documentation as part of multiple technology transfers from the development site to the high volume manufacturing sites. This resulted flawless module start-ups at the receiving manufacturing sites.

§Trained engineers and technicians on updated automation and quality systems.

§Identified and managed the execution of improvement projects in support of Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) tool availability, process stability/capability, cost reduction, and technician efficiency in accordance with lean manufacturing principles resulting in a 40% reduction in process monitoring costs, and a 10% improvement in tool up-time.
