PROJECTS

Control Engineer Trainee

LHPU - Columbus, IN

Diesel Engine Control – Desk Top Environment (DTE) test 10/2015

•Designed a diesel engine control system based on a PID controller and a cruise control system for speed governing during idle, crank and run modes

•Examined oscilloscope readings to synchronize Bosch VP44 fuel injection timing with the cylinder firing event, determined cam/crank encoder patterns and duty cycle for the lift pump states

•Established a communication system via CAN 2.0b J1939 standard data frames between control system and DTE software from LHP company

•Collected engine performance data from DTE for diagnostic troubleshooting and improvements

•Employed MotoHawk and calibration development tool Moto Tune for rapid prototyping, simulation, engine run, ECU tuning and Hardware-in-loop (HIL) testing of the model in real time

Remote Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) via CAN 10/2015

•Utilized a CAN bus cable including CAN_HIGH, CAN_LOW, VCC and GND

•Built CAN Protocol between two ECUs using MATLAB, Simulink, and MotoHawk

•Calibrated the control system (gain, offset, limit values) using Ziegler-Nichols Method and MotoTune

•Sent pedal and throttle position sensor values to ECU1 from ECU2 via CAN communication

•Modulated duty-cycle using PI controller based on pedal position and throttle position

•Analyzed and diagnosed CAN messages by looking up PGN in J1939 Table
