WORK / PRACTICE HISTORY

Mata Chanan Devi Hospital, Newdelhi: I started my nursing career at Mata Chanan Devi Hospital, which is a 210 bedded multi- super specialty hospital in New Delhi. From 17-08-2008 to 11-02-2011, I worked as a full time registered nurse in the Medical and Surgical ward of Mata Chanan Devi Hospital. This was a challenging job with busy shifts and various acute conditions. I enjoyed working there and gained handful experience in medical surgical nursing care.

P.G. Medical Trust Hospital, Nilambur, Kerala: Later I joined P.G. Medical Trust Hospital, which is a 150 bedded referral hospital. I was posted in the Medical and Surgical ward as well as in the Emergency Department. My experience at P.G. Medical Trust Hospital extended form 20-02-2011 to 10-10-2012.

My cumulative Medical Surgical nursing experience in India accounts 3 years and 11 months.

CLINICAL SKILLS

Nursing skills which I have gained includes:

•Safe administration of parental and non-parental medicines.

•Observe and assess IV site and report complications promptly.

•Assisting emergency intubation and ventilation.

•Necessary skills to initiate code blue emergency response system; start resuscitation procedure and assist the doctor in carrying out life saving actions according to BLS and ACLS algorithm.

•Skills to assist bed side procedures like central line insertion, arterial line insertion, intercostal drainage, tracheostomy etc.

•Drawing blood from central venous catheter, arterial line and nursing care of invasive lines.

•Tracheostomy care and suction techniques.

•Handle various medical equipments including mechanical ventilators, defibrillators, bipap machines, ECG machines, syringe pumps, infusomats, ultra nebulizers, incubators, various hemodynamic monitors, etc.

•Monitoring Glasgow coma scale and vital parameters closely.

•Meeting hygienic needs of patients.

•Meeting nutritional needs of patients including insertion of nasogastric tubes and providing timely feed.

•Performing urinary catheterization and administering enema and suppositories.

•Prepare patients for various diagnostic procedures including MRI scan, CT scan, endoscopy, angiogram, etc.

•Computer knowledge to operate hospital information system.

EXPERIENCE IN AUSTRALIA:

As a part of getting my AHPRA registration, I worked as a nurse under supervision at Peterborough Soldiers Memorial Hospital (SA). I started my placement at on 22nd of July 2013 and completed by 30th of August 2013. This experience helped me to adapt to the Australian Health System. I was able to understand the policies and procedures of the Hospital. I could work efficiently within the scope of my practice.
