Worked on DB2 tables with Triggers Cleanup project. The UPDATE, INSERT and DELETE database operations on the tables with triggers have been impacted by producing a negative -723 SQL code whenever an invalid hexadecimal character was detected in the CHAR or VARCHAR XMLELEMENT data type defined column causing processes to ABEND. Created a software package comprised of JCL, COBOL/DB2, SPUFI programs and scripts to replace invalid hexadecimal characters with spaces to resolve the issue. Created and implemented a new DB2 Stored Procedure to store and maintain new web tracking statuses for small packages, freight delivery exception statuses, package clearing and delivery statuses, etc. to be accessed and processed by Customer Automation-Internet System and UPS Tracking applications in the distributed web environment.

The software was designed, developed, implemented with production releases scheduled in phases and maintained using latest mainframe and web technology software such as DB2 UDB for z-OS/V9, CICS V3.2, COBOL Z/OS/ILE, CWS and other IBM, CA and CompuWare systems application development and testing tools.

Worked on the Branch Symbol Numeric (BSN) conversion project that was implemented to convert a currently two byte character PaineWebber (PW) Branch Symbol having an alphabetic value in first position and alphanumeric in the second.

BSN (or Wire Code) is a basic building block embedded in other key data items such as Broker ID, Client Account Number, G/L Account Number, etc., which limited the number of potential retail offices and correspondent client firms of many PW business systems.

Redesigned COBOL II (both batch and online) source programs, JCL utility programs control cards and JCL procedures for HISTORICAL STOCK RECORD – HSR – PW acronym (a part of the PW Corporate Actions business application) to enable expansion of the existing BSN value to a three (3) byte long character.
