Conducting counseling sessions with clients on their personal finances by providing financial education and guidance to help clients evaluate their spending habits through creating monthly budgets for household expenses and average monthly income, exploring debt repayment options that fit their needs, providing a forecast debt repayment plan, analyzing client credit reports and providing them with a step by step action plan. This type of financial counseling session would allow clients to internalize a clearer pathway of reaching their short-term and long-term financial goals.

Provided housing counseling sessions focused on preventing foreclosure of client homes by mediating the client-mortgagor relationship, guiding clients through the process of applying for a federal “Making Homes Affordable” loan modification, forbearance, refinance, deed-in lieu or short-term sale, the state funded “North Carolina Hardest Hit Funds” program or a lender internal foreclosure prevention plan which could also result in a loan modification, forbearance, refinance, deed-in lieu or short-term sale.

The coordination, processing and management of client credit/debt accounts enrolled on the Debt Management Program (DMP) according to the CCCS and creditors’ DMP policies reporting directly to the CCCS Director.

Set-up, activate and oversee 350+ DMP client credit card and debt collection accounts averaging 15-20 accounts per client into the Debt Management Solutions (DMS) software by Cooperative Processing Resources (CPR).

Process and post an average of 300-350 client payments received monthly to client DMP accounts, prepare daily deposit batch, apply fair share payments (creditor contributions) received to creditor accounts receivable invoices and set-up client ACH electronic debit payments.

Set-up credit card accounts as an accounts payable for disbursing electronic payments using Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and submit proposals electronically to creditors through the MasterCard RPPS system using Electronic Data Information (EDI) billing portals.

Processed weekly check runs disbursing a monthly average of 4000-4500 payments to creditors for each DMP enrolled account to include check voids, client refunds, stop payments or rejected bank wires from creditors and NSF payments from clients.

Monthly adjusting entries to the CCCS Trust account for unpaid accounts receivable, set up weekly payments for the CCCS internal creditors for debit card fees, counseling fees, fair share receivables, DMP fees and deducting monthly bank maintenance fees.

Process end-of-month closing in DMS to include printing all reports, client statements and creditor invoices for fair share receivables.

Calculate and process weekly and end-of-month income reports by branch office with monthly comparison graphs consisting of fair share receivables, program income fees and total receivables for the DMP Dept., Finance Dept. and the CCCS Director.

Serve as point of contact for client relations, creditor communications, account issues, errors or complaints and being the sole problem solver for the DMP department.

Reconcile monthly trust account bank statements averaging over 4000 transactions per statement and researching all 5 year old outstanding checks for the funds to be forward to the NC Treasury Dept.

Administrator of the 1) DMS Manager to include security, adding users, administrative permissions, end-of-month and end-of year close outs; 2) PNC Bank On-line Treasury Banking site for the trust account; 3) Vanco On-line 3rd party disbursing/data services and the 4) Peregrin Technology Solutions site for Credit Counseling Agencies for secure IT creditor relations for debt management.

Upload and transmit the CCCS Quarterly 9902 report to the Federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department.

Developed and wrote Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and a User Guide for the Debt Management Plan department for training purposes of future employees.

Other responsibilities outside job scope included:

Directly supervised two other employees in the security, organization, accurate record keeping, filing and maintenance of the secured file room to include data entry of new files and shredding of outdated files while recording and updating it all accurately on the master-log excel spreadsheet.
