Accomplishments

and Skills

Responsible for the development and construction of an experimental environmental chamber used for qualification testing of large industrial inspection equipment. This chamber was able to produce both humidity and temperature variations to match expected plant conditions. This required working closely with company engineers to ensure progress and allow for design refinements as development advanced.

Developed a vacuum accumulation device to improve manifold performance for high-altitude applications on the OmniVision Inspection System. Installed AC and DC gear motors, programmed inverter drives and installed safety switches and breakers to the main power for a number of conveyor systems.

Built the facility’s compressed air system, which used a screw drive compressor, air dryer and accumulation tank, which included extensive plumbing. Later improved the system’s efficiency using high-flow connectors and larger supply tubing. The system’s performance improvement was significant. Skilled in the use of automated test equipment such as the oscilloscope, multi- meter, temperature sensors/meters and airflow meters. Able to produce test fixtures and devise methods for testing, repair and installation of end-user and in-house products. Assisted in the development of quality assurance protocols and programming for engineer and customer support. Proficient with a wide range of materials including UHMW, Nylatron, Teflon, PVC, polycarbonate, polyurethane, rubber, phenolic, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, silicon brass, copper, lead and cold rolled steel. Experience with precision optics and optical alignment for machine vision systems, as well as steered-beam laser systems.

Extensive experience in metal fabrication, including the building of enclosures, fixtures, brackets, clamping, shielding, etc.
