shelter, food and clothing throughout local and surrounding counties.
Directed volunteer coordination duties including hiring, training and
assignments. Developed and implemented a major donor program and donor
recognition protocols. Managed direct mail campaigns. Planned and
coordinated large scale events and galas.
. Co-organized a program with the Department of Aging to employ and retrain
senior citizens for paid positions such as front desk reception and
clerical, using grant funds given by the agency.
. Planned and coordinated annual gala from inception to completion attended
by 300-350 donors. Coordinated hotel banquet location at the Four
Seasons of Beverly Hills, vendor negotiation, and recruitment of
corporate sponsors, celebrity attendees and service awards. Managed

PROJECT ANGEL FOOD, Los Angeles, CA
Manager of Volunteer Services 2005 to 2007
Supervised the volunteer department of this high profile charity
organization which was awarded 5 Stars on Charity Navigator. The volunteer
department was responsible for running the agency whose original mission
was to provide daily meals to HIV/AIDS patients and then expanded to feed
and nourish all individuals who were homebound by illness. Responsible for
recruitment, training, retention and recognition of all volunteers.
. Oversaw all activities taken on by a professional kitchen staff.
Coordinated the logistics of over 100 volunteers daily who packaged and
delivered 800+ meals per day.
. Coordinated and implemented from inception to completion, the annual
"Divine Design," a large scale five-day gala and fashion show with over
500 attendees. Event took place in the closed Robinsons-May department
store which was staged with donated merchandise to resemble a fully
stocked department store. Coordinated corporate sponsors, donation,
celebrity attendees, and volunteers to stage the venue, to run the cash
registers, to man the caf and to restock goods over the five days.
Coordinated the logistic of 1700 volunteers over the five-day event.
CITY OF HOPE MEDICAL CENTER, Pasadena, CA
Director of Volunteer Services 2002 to 2005
Coordinated all volunteer management responsibilities for 47 service areas
for the hospital including the tram service, front desk, patient escort and
gift shop of this six acre property with multiple buildings. Directed
recruitment, retention and training of staff and volunteers. Developed
volunteers into a goal oriented cohesive group of professionals.
. Managed a $650K annual department budget; authored and implemented new
volunteer orientation manuals; designed service development plans and
constructed audit tools to measure results.
. Re-organized entire gift shop department, turning a $136K annual loss
into a monthly gain of $75.8K in kind donation of volunteer hours, equal
to 31.5 FTE per month. Gift shop buyer.
. Planned the annual Bone Marrow Transplant Donor and Recipient Reunion
attended by over 1000 individuals; coordinated all logistics and
budgeting for this outdoor picnic luncheon including celebrity guests.
ST. LUKE MEDICAL CENTER, Pasadena, CA
Director of Volunteer Services 1996 to 2002
Performed all aspects of volunteer management including recruiting,
interviewing, orientation, scheduling, relationship building, problem
solving and attrition.
. Coordinated a "Women on Welfare" retraining program in conjunction with
the Department of Unemployment; received grant funds from the division
to support basic training and employment skills for women; empowered
women and assisted them in seeing their own self-worth. 25 program
participants of which 20% were actually later hired by the hospital.
. Ran an "At Risk" youth summer employment program, paid for by a city
project; provided training and summer work for students.
