Draw blood from patients and prepare the blood samples for tests and procedures

Prepare the area for blood samples to be drawn by cleaning the area, applying the right amount of pressure and making sure the area is safe after the blood sample is taken.

Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation procedures.

Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.

Use proper personal protective equipment to ensure patient and personal safety at all times

HEMATOLOGY

Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test sterility of medical laboratory equipment.

Prepare standard volumetric solutions or reagents to be combined with samples, following standardized

formulas or experimental procedures.

Analyze the results of tests or experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical

or electrical devices.

Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood or urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer

to detect abnormalities or diseases and enter findings into computer.

Analyze and record test data to issue reports that use charts, graphs, or narratives
